As VP Financial Planning & Analysis a typical day might include:

Enterprise Financial Planning & Performance Management

  • Overseeing and continuously improving the annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long range planning, ensuring scalable FP&A processes and governance aligned with a growing national brokerage.
  • Building and enhancing scalable FP&A tools, systems, and automation to deliver timely, insightful, and decision ready reporting.
  • Developing and maintaining integrated, metric driven financial models covering profitability, producer compensation and incentives, and liquidity planning.
  • Delivering executive, Board, and operational reporting, leading monthly and quarterly business reviews that highlight performance drivers, risks, and growth opportunities.
  • Partnering with business leaders to strengthen financial literacy, accountability, and performance management across the organization.

Strategy & Growth

  • Acting as a strategic partner to the CFO and executive team, supporting five year strategic planning, scenario modeling, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Leading FP&A support for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, including financial modeling, valuation, and post close integration and synergy tracking.
  • Evaluating growth opportunities and strategic initiatives, providing clear financial insight to inform executive decision making.

Bank Reporting, Capital Stewardship & Governance

  • Supporting banking relationships and disciplined capital management in a leveraged brokerage environment.
  • Overseeing lender reporting, covenant calculations, and variance analysis, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with credit agreements.
  • Developing forward looking covenant forecasts and stress-testing scenarios, assessing impacts from acquisitions, organic growth, seasonality, and compensation dynamics.
  • Partnering with the CFO on proactive covenant risk management, refinancings, amendments, and lender communications.
  • Serving as a key finance liaison with lenders, private equity sponsors, and external advisors, translating performance into clear, credible financial narratives.

Financial Discipline

  • Ensuring FP&A processes align with internal controls, financial governance, and risk management standards, identifying and addressing control gaps as needed.

Leadership & Capability Building

  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a high performing FP&A team, setting a strong standard for analytical rigor, business partnership, and executive credibility.
  • Fostering a collaborative, high accountability culture focused on continuous improvement and value creation.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor and visible finance leader, demonstrating integrity, transparency, and a values driven leadership approach.

Must haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting (required)
  • CPA and/or CFA designation (required)
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive, post-designation experience in financial planning and analysis or related finance roles.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams.
  • Broad business experience across FP&A, budgeting, reporting, strategy, and mergers & acquisitions.
  • Experience in the insurance and / or financial services industry considered an asset, including experience supporting bank reporting, covenant compliance, or private‑equity‑backed capital structures in a brokerage, professional services, or financial services environment.
