Your Opportunity
Stantec has an opportunity for a senior Water Resources professional with an operational and management background to join our Environmental Services team. The position will ideally be located in either Burnaby, Victoria, or Sidney, British Columbia or Whitehorse, Yukon. There is flexibility to be based out of our other offices in British Columbia. The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership and further growth of an existing multi-disciplinary team of hydrologists, hydrogeologists, geochemists and water resources engineers.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Identifying and supporting the win of strategic pursuits in collaboration with local Business Centre Practice Leaders, Account Managers, and other business developers.
- Coordinating with the Environmental Services Discipline Leads to align sector initiatives with their initiatives in technical resourcing, innovation, digital solutions and quality.
- Reinforcing our Stantec brand as a leader in Water Resources through active participation in industry organizations, thought leadership, and communication with strategic clients.
- Providing leadership to our Water Resources professionals.
- Communicate relevant technical standards, governance, and strategy to Water Resources Group in the Region.
- Contribute to and coordinate participation of subject matter experts in the region to develop technical standards (guide specifications and standard details), guidance documents (including Best Practice Guides) and other discipline-specific resources.
- Technical development of staff, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of best practices.
- Support Project Technical Leads (PTLs) on their projects to develop and implement quality management for the Water Resources Group.
- Participate in delivery of key projects as a project discipline lead, project technical lead, technical expert or quality reviewer.
- Collaborate with project leadership to develop discipline staffing and succession plans for the team.
- Support workload balancing efforts of Water Resources Group professionals.
- Consistently demonstrate a commitment to the Health and Safety culture within Stantec.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- A broad understanding of the water resources consulting business in Western and Northern Canada, with a focus in the mining sector.
- Proven abilities in leading teams of water resources consultants and in securing work for team members and supporting their development.
- Proven project management and technical skills applicable to delivering water resources projects
- The ability to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines.
- An understanding of client expectations, project budgeting, proposal writing, and invoicing for engineering consulting services.
- Proficiency in writing and communications.
Your Education and Experience
- Minimum of a M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences (e.g., Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Sciences) or Engineering, preference may be given to those with advanced degrees.
- Professional registration in one of the above disciplines is required and registered in British Columbia (P.Geo. or P.Eng.).
- Minimum of 15 years of experience, which must include relevant consulting experience in the mining sector.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 136,200.00 - Max Salary $ 211,100.00
• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 144,400.00 - Max Salary $ 223,800.00
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
