Automation Specialist

Job Description
JOB DUTIES:
- Design, specify, program and commission automation systems including PLC, VFD, HMI, SCADA, and more.
- Test systems in the shop
- Working in the field to commission systems
- Working with remote connection devices to troubleshoot and update systems
- Design, specify and commission. Secure control networks
- Ensure work environment is safe at all time
REQUIREMENTS:
Automation, Controls & SCADA
- Hands-on PLC, HMI, and SCADA experience (Schneider Electric required; Rockwell a strong asset)
- VTScada experience preferred; other platforms a bonus
Networking & Communications
- Strong understanding of Modbus (TCP preferred) and Ethernet/IP
- Experience with Schneider remote I/O
- Ability to configure Layer 2/3 switches and VLANs
- Familiar with remote access tools (Ewon, VPN, tunneling)
Instrumentation & Field Systems
- Troubleshoot analog (4–20 mA, 0–10 V) and digital/relay I/O
- Experience with VFDs (Schneider, Yaskawa, ABB) and system integration
- Ability to integrate meters, ATS, UPS, and related equipment
Communication & Documentation
- Strong technical communication in English; French is an asset
- Clear, consistent documentation skills
