Position Purpose and Summary
The Instructional Design Associate gives leadership to the design and development of courses that provide an engaging learning experience in online and/or blended learning environments by serving as a consultant to faculty members who provide content expertise. The Instructional Design Associate will play an important role in the provision of core services as part of the TWU GLOBAL Online team in a timely fashion to meet the curricular goals of the TWU Strategic Plan.
Key Areas of Accountability
- Consult with faculty subject matter experts and academic program directors to develop online and multi-access courses that provide effective, inquiry-based learning experiences to meet specified course learning outcomes;
- Provide efficient and effective project management, documentation and file management procedures;
- Guide the development of course-level learning outcomes in alignment with program and institutional outcomes;
- Create or adapt course assessments in alignment with course, program and institutional outcomes;
- Ensure timely and professional communication with all stakeholders related to course development;
- Work with media team to create, adapt, or use digital media resources to support student learning
- Identify Open Educational Resources for use in online and multi-access courses and ensure copyright permissions are secured as necessary;
- Collaborate with the Equity of Access office at TWU to support the development of a digital learning environment that is accessible and inclusive for students and faculty who experience learning challenges.
- Support the mission of TWU Office of Teaching and Learning through providing workshops and other professional development opportunities for TWU instructors.

- Able to provide collegial leadership, coaching and support to Subject Matter Experts;

Standards & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in online education, instructional design, or a relevant discipline required, Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- Leading instructional design projects in higher education;
- Teaching in higher education, K-12, or ESL/International contexts;
- Developing curriculum for higher education or K-12, or ESL/International contexts;
- Building highly interactive, inquiry-based, community-oriented courses in non-traditional digital learning environments;
- Managing projects where timelines, cost controls, and bottom line results were expected and achieved;
- Working with multiple course development projects simultaneously and navigating multiple competing priorities;
- Experience with a wide variety of digital learning environments (e.g. Moodle, WordPress, web conferencing);
- Creating or adapting digital media assets for use in digital learning environments.
- Designing learning experiences inclusive of Indigenous worldviews and perspectives
