Job Description: We are seeking an experienced HR Technical Lead with specialized expertise in HR systems security modules to join our team. This role will be responsible for designing, configuring, and managing robust security frameworks within our HR technologies, with a particular focus on Workday. The ideal candidate will provide strategic and technical leadership in ensuring that security protocols align with organizational policies, compliance standards, and evolving best practices.

What will you do? Employee Experience Enablement

  • Ensure that system design and functionality support intuitive, employee centric digital experiences
  • Partner with HR and business stakeholders to identify pain points and translate them into technology solutions

Solution Design and Delivery

  • Lead the design and configuration of HR modules across our HR systems, primarily Workday, with a specialized focus in either Core HR, Talent, Payroll, Learning, Performance, Security, or related platforms
  • Oversee integrations between HR platforms and enterprise systems to ensure data accuracy and seamless user experience
  • Champion sustainable design principles and architectural patterns to ensure the long-term health and scalability of our HR systems
  • Ensure solutions comply with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements
  • Document processes, standard and best practices, provide training materials, and host user training sessions for stakeholders

Agile Delivery and Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies (planning, system demos, inspect and adapt, program, and huddles)
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, scrum masters, HR partners, and IT to deliver incremental value
  • Manage backlog prioritization, leveraging Jira, and guiding technical feasibility discussions with team

Leadership and Mentorship

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to HR Systems Analysts and other team members
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for HR technology and integration best practices
  • Support knowledge-sharing, documentation, and process standardization within the HR Digital Solutions team

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

  • Monitor HR technology trends and recommend enhancements to improve usability, automation, and employee experience
  • Gather feedback from employees and managers to continuously refine HR digital solutions
  • Drive global process simplification alongside technical delivery

What do you need to succeed?

  • 5+ years of progressive experience with HR Systems and technologies, Workday experience a plus
  • Strong understanding of HR business processes
  • Strong understanding of data governance, operating guidelines, and quality control best practices
  • Proven ability to articulate and advocate for architectural best practices, influencing teams to build for maintainability and future adaptability
  • Experience, or ability to adapt and learn, in participating in agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and planning initiatives
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in creating and analyzing HR reports and metrics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and intermediate level with Excel
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and integrity
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
