Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join our team at Crean Hill and help drive the future development and success of the operation.

The Senior Engineer, Mining is responsible for planning, designing, and optimizing mining operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of mineral resources. This role provides technical leadership, mentors junior engineers, and works closely with operations, geology, and management teams to deliver short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans aligned with business objectives.

All Magna Mining team members are expected to work collaboratively with others, lead the way in health and safety, act with honesty, integrity, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans.

  • Design mine layouts, production schedules, stopes, and infrastructure.

  • Optimize mine designs to maximize recovery, productivity, and economic returns.

  • Prepare and review life-of-mine (LOM) plans and reserves statements.

  • Provide technical guidance to operations to achieve production targets.

  • Analyze production performance and recommend improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with geotechnical, ventilation, and ground control requirements.

  • Support drill and blast design and optimization.

  • Ensure mine plans comply with statutory, safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.

  • Mentor junior mining engineers and graduates.

  • Contribute technical input to capital projects and feasibility studies.

  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and budgets.

  • Contribute to audits, reviews, and external reporting as required.

Requirements

Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents

  • Post-secondary education in Mine Engineering, or a related field.

  • Registration or eligibility to register as an Engineer in Training with the Professional Engineers of Ontario is required.

Work Experience: Nature & Length

  • 7 or more year of mine engineering experience, with a focus on underground mining operations.

Key Competencies: Behaviours & Skills

  • Expert in mine design and planning software.

  • Excellent knowledge of the principles and practices of mine engineering.

  • Proficient with common computer skills including preparation of documents and presentations, spreadsheet use, database data entry, and email use.

  • Proven analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Written and verbal communication skills.
