Scope
Do you enjoy working outdoors and serving the community? Are you looking to build your knowledge, skills, and experience in horticulture and grounds maintenance? The City of Surrey's Park Landscape Operations section offers exciting opportunities and challenges in a dynamic, energetic environment. We are currently seeking temporary full-time skilled workers for spring and summer employment.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will perform general labour duties, including manual and semi-skilled tasks that require considerable physical effort, as well as a variety of landscape maintenance jobs. You will work in teams to maintain gardens, medians, open-space turf areas, and outdoor spaces around public buildings, where strong public relations and interpersonal skills are essential. As a Parks Labourer, you will work alongside experienced Park Landscape Operations staff to carry out general landscape maintenance throughout Surrey, using appropriate tools and equipment to complete tasks that require significant physical effort.
Responsibilities will include:
- Mowing grass
- Performing maintenance tasks, including weeding and pruning in various horticultural areas
- Carrying out general park upkeep
- Demonstrating safe work practices
- Performing other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12
- Class 5 BC Driver's License with a safe driving record
- Relevant training and experience performing manual labour
- Strong public relations, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to complete work of a heavy manual nature in all weather conditions
- Experience with related tools and equipment is considered an asset

Conditions of Employment
This position requires completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
