VMAC has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer to join its Manufacturing Engineering team. In this capacity, the successful candidate will collaborate with various VMAC departments to achieve targets set by the leadership team to meet strategic goals of the organization and realize business growth. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a collaborative and innovative team dedicated to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to Manufacturing Engineering Lead, responsibilities include:
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Implements engineering changes; manage change control for new and existing product implementations/ revisions.
- Initiates and evaluates cost studies, product suggestions and value analyses.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities and establishing.
- Plans for and monitors project budgets.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Collaborate on the design and analysis of mechanical components and systems, supporting the implementation into production.
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures.
- Work with Supply Chain team on sourcing of components and materials for new product implementation.
- Verify conformity of outsourced components and parts against specifications and drawings as required.
- Test prototypes of new products to an extent sufficient to verify conformity with the development specification.
- Create technical documentation using, SolidWorks, & M2M.
- Create VTR’s, standards, procedures and keep accurate records on all projects.
- Define, document, and build equipment for product and component testing.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor of Engineering Degree from an accredited university of good standing or equivalent.
- Registered with EGBC as a P. Eng or EIT or ASTTBC.
- Minimum 4-6 years of relevant industry work experience.
- Lean Manufacturing training or experience is an asset.
- Familiarity with ASME Y14.5-2018 GD&T is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
