The School District
Nechako Lakes School District is nestled in the heart of north-central British Columbia, serving the diverse and welcoming communities of Fort St. James, Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake, Burns Lake, and Granisle. The district is home to approximately 2825 students in our local schools, as well as 900 full-time equivalent learners enrolled in EBUS Academy, one of the largest and most established online schools in the province. Every day, around 650 teachers, support staff, and exempt staff work throughout our district, making up the largest employee group in our region.

The Position
The district is seeking an experienced educator to provide leadership and instructional support across its schools. Reporting to the Director of Instruction-Student Learning, this role will primarily focus on mentoring and supporting new teachers and Letter of Permission candidates. The position requires considerable flexibility, and the successful candidate must be prepared to travel to all communities in the district.
Additional duties may include project work and/or assisting other departments as required. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Demonstrated ability as an effective instructional educator with successful formal and/or teacher leadership experience; Demonstrated experience in mentoring and supporting new teachers in practicum and early years teaching; Demonstrated knowledge of current research in instructional practices related to literacy and numeracy; Knowledge and commitment to the TRC report recommendations and advancing Indigenous culture, language and learning in schools; Awareness and sensitivity to current educational developments, reflective professional practice and the changing nature of instruction; Demonstrated knowledge of effective SEL strategies and practices; Demonstrated knowledge of Inclusive education practices and strategies to support all students; Demonstrated knowledge of current assessment strategies and practices; A Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or a related field; Previous leadership experience is preferred.
COMPENSATION:
Current salary grid is for full-time - $154,277 - $163,000 Moving reimbursement Recruitment & retention monthly allowance Excellent benefits based on the provincial exempt package

EBUS is an innovative distance education program comprising computer based training, computer mediated education, internet access and access to on-line teachers via email and voice. The program adheres to the British Columbia curriculum and is eligible for certification and credit by the Ministry of Education. Current enrollment is over 750 students in grades ranging from kindergarten to 11. This program overcomes time, organizational and geographic barriers to learning.
