About The Role The Senior Manager, Information Technology Services is responsible for the operation and administrative leadership of technical, support and client services for all staff and students at the organization. Fostering strong and collaborative relationships with internal/external interested parties to ensure technical and infrastructure support, ministry compliance, database administration and library learning commons support.

General Description Of Duties Reporting to the Associate Director, Business Services and Treasurer of the Board, the incumbent in this role will be responsible for a diverse portfolio of responsibilities which support student and systems needs through implementation of the Multi-Year Strategic Plan.

Duties include but are not limited to

  • Managing all Information Technology (IT) Services staff, including all aspects of IT infrastructure, support, data, training and central data team.
  • Providing high levels of service through the coordination of work through the IT managers in collaboration with other service departments.
  • Acting as a strategic advisor to the senior management team providing organizational and technological counsel that is based on organizational goals and direction.
  • Developing and monitoring an annual budget for the department.
  • Developing an annual computer plan to support the deployment of devices and software to students and staff, maintain wireless infrastructure, and strengthen cyber security.
  • Coordinating the provision of high levels of support and appropriate resources to facilitate data driven decision-making and to facilitate organizational operations.
  • Ensuring the timely, accurate, and complete reporting information in the board's Student Information System.
  • Responsible for the creation and administrator of disaster recovery and incidence responses plans that will enable the Board to remain functioning in the event of a crisis
  • Managing and coordinating proactive communication to the system ensuring timely updates to staff, students, and community about IT services, interruptions, and changes.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent related field.
  • 10 – 15 years extensive experience in information technology and/or security field with at least 5 – 7 years in senior management roles.
  • Excellent technical skills in project management, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and enterprise IT governance. A Project Management Professional designation is an asset.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills enhanced by strong team building, cultivating an open and supportive environment, and building good working relationships with staff through strong communication and responding in a timely manner.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills combined with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • A fair and objective approach to all personnel and working situations to carry out all aspects of staff supervision.
  • Proven and effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills including the ability to manage sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment with an understanding of equity principles and awareness of equal opportunities.
  • Ability to stay calm in busy and stressful situations, effectively assessing/addressing challenges while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Regular requirement to work after hours when required based on system and emergency needs.
  • Regular travel is required to various schools and meetings.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
