About the role

Job Summary Reporting to the Senior Manager, Import, the Import/Consolidation Clerk will be responsible to provide support throughout the steps of the transportation and import process.

Key Accountabilities

  • Contact overseas suppliers to ensure goods are ready on time;
  • Arrange shipments from overseas in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner, ensuring containers are fully loaded;
  • Maintain daily communication and coordination with suppliers, freight forwarders, and/or carriers to ensure processes are on time and shipments are smooth until dispatched;
  • Validate loading plans from vendors; consolidate vendor consolidated cargo (LCL) into containers;
  • Revise loading plans after containers are loaded;
  • Follow up late shipments and delayed orders; rush items including Seasonal and Low Stock items;
  • Check for empty space in containers and hold vendors accountable according to company rules;
  • Verify the dimensions of shipping marks with the vendors;
  • Input data into ERP system (SAP); and
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team.

Job Requirements

  • College Diploma (AEC) in Transportation, Logistics or in a similar field;
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in an import/export or logistics role;
  • Good analytical skills combined with a keen attention to detail;
  • Strong problem-solving skills;
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with high volume;
  • Knowledge of MS Office is required with proven Excel ability; and
  • Knowledge of SAP, an asset.
