Full-time, 35 hours/ week, Hybrid

Join our team at the GRE&T Centre reporting to the Head of Grid Edge Solutions. As a Specialist in Grid Edge Solutions, you will develop business cases, contribute to proposals, perform research, conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis, prepare reports, coordinate projects, and maintain relationships with customers and stakeholders. Your efforts will support the development and assessment of Alectra’s grid-edge initiatives focused on demand-side management and other non-wires solutions.

What You’ll Do Research and Strategy Development:

  • Lead research and strategic initiatives in non-wires electricity solutions (NWS), demand-side management (DSM), electricity pricing, demand response, distributed energy resources, and support for electrification.
  • Design programs for DSM and NWS; develop business cases and strategy documents for potential Alectra initiatives.
  • Contribute to frameworks assessing non-wires solutions against system needs.

Project Coordination And Analysis

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of data sets and research reports, including advanced modeling and analysis; develop recommendations based on findings.
  • Coordinate project management activities, including project plans, schedules, timelines, budgets, and other documentation.
  • Track and forecast financial expenses; organize, document, and follow up on actions and decisions from meetings.

Stakeholder Engagement And Communication

  • Monitor the delivery of work packages by internal and external partners; provide initial reviews and coordinate feedback to support deliverable completion.
  • Develop written reports and presentations to communicate project updates, research findings, and topical backgrounders to stakeholders.
  • Support customer acquisition and stakeholder engagement by developing materials, tracking processes, and responding to input.

Technical Exploration

  • Investigate energy end uses and management platforms for performance and fit
  • Configure and monitor test events according to plans; analyze results.
  • Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and collaborate on projects of mutual interest; explore business opportunities for customer engagement and commercialization efforts.

Administrative Support

  • Provide project and administrative support as needed to achieve departmental objectives and other initiatives within the GRE&T Centre.
  • Interact with various team members and departments to coordinate project activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Who You Are Education & Specialized Knowledge

  • Post-Secondary education in related field (e.g., business, engineering, public policy, environment, data analytics).
  • General knowledge of the energy and utility industries and their relationship to different customer types, electricity requirements, and relevant technologies.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel; other analytical platforms an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience demonstrating the range of duties expected for this position.
  • Enhanced data analytics capability is an asset
  • Experience working in in the Utility/Energy sector an asset

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to meet challenging deadlines while working on multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research abilities to assess data and provide clear analysis and recommendations.
  • Demonstrates creative problem-solving and strategic thinking skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Understanding of the intersection and impacts of technology, business and policy on customer and stakeholder behaviour
  • Demonstrated skills in research and planning to support strategy development and commercialization planning
  • Ability to build and maintain strong collaborative and collegial working relationships with team members, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills, with the ability to learn, apply and explain information in an organized and concise way.
  • Self-motivated; ability to work both independently and as a team player.
  • Strong results orientation, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in an environment with minor or almost no exposure to disagreeable or challenging working conditions.
  • Position is based in Alectra’s Cityview office but with regular travel to other Alectra offices and project sites as required, with remote work an option according to Alectra policy. Travel expenses to be reimbursed as per Alectra policy.
