Instructional Designer
About the role

The Instructional Designer (ID) is responsible for analysing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating engaging learning solutions for Canada Operations and Business Enablement (COBE). The ID collaborates with their peers, leaders, business partners, subject matter experts (SMEs), and Learning Relationship Managers (LRMs) to deliver innovative, learner-centric training programmes that support business goals and promote a culture of continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaboration

- Partner with business leaders, SMEs, and LRMs to analyze learning needs and define objectives for diverse audiences.
- Facilitate needs/gap analyses to identify opportunities for improved learning experiences and performance outcomes.
- Communicate with cross-functional teams and business areas to ensure alignment and accuracy of content.
- Design & Development

- Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to create instructor-led, blended, and digital learning materials (eLearning, facilitator guides, videos, job aids, simulations).
- Use advanced authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Vyond, Camtasia, Snagit) to develop interactive and accessible content.
- Integrate accessibility standards (e.g., AODA) and inclusive design practices to ensure all learners can engage effectively.
- Project Management and Organization

- Develop and communicate schedules, managing multiple projects and priorities in an agile, demanding environment.
- Oversee review cycles, gather feedback, and document processes for audit and continuous improvement.
- Maintain organized digital files and adhere to team standards for knowledge management.
- Evaluation & Improvement

- Measure training effectiveness using recognized models (e.g., Kirkpatrick), analyze feedback, and iterate solutions for optimal impact.
- Pilot innovative programs, report results, and adjust content as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Post-secondary education in Adult Education, Instructional Design, or related field; or 5+ years’ instructional design experience.

Proven expertise in applying adult learning theories, instructional design methodologies, and digital learning trends.

Knowledge and application of various instructional design methodologies and techniques.

Willingness to keep current with the latest technologies and learning trends.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Proficiency with eLearning design tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Snagit, Vyond).
-
Experience with Learning Management software (e.g., SumTotal, Geo learning) and Knowledge Management software (SharePoint, CRM) is an asset.

Exceptional customer service and negotiation skills.

Demonstrated ability to engage learners through creativity.
-
Experience developing effective training materials including presentations, facilitator guides, storyboards, eLearning lessons, and simulations.

Excellent written and verbal communication, with attention to detail, accuracy, and active voice; skilled in plain language.

Demonstrated creativity, innovation, and ability to simplify complex information.

Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with various peers and leaders across business functions and departments.

Effective communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Excellent organizational, project management, and time management abilities.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, deliverables, and competing priorities with a proven record of success.

Experience in insurance, investment, or financial services is an asset.
The base salary for this position is between $55,700.00 minimum - $97,700.00 maximum annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
