The Strategic Systems and Innovation Branch plays a crucial role as a trusted advisor within the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General, providing leadership and expertise in the delivery of Information Management and Information Technology solutions. The Branch’s Vision is to achieve service excellence in the delivery of innovative, secure and efficient technology solutions that empower our staff and enhance the Ministry’s ability to serve the public effectively.
Position Overview: The Ministry is seeking a dynamic and positive professional with proven leadership skills to join the Strategic Systems and Innovation Branch.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Strategy and Portfolio Management will oversee the planning, development and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives that align with the Ministry's goals and objectives. This role requires a strong leader with a background in strategic development, portfolio management, people management and innovation.
To be successful in this position, you will have proven experience in leading and managing teams, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, familiarity with strategy and portfolio management and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse and executive level stakeholders. Strong communication, critical thinking, adaptability and emotional intelligence will be essential qualities for the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- The strategic alignment, prioritization, governance, and delivery of critical IT projects for the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General (JAG) reporting to the branch Executive Director.
- Provide leadership and oversight to the team responsible for project delivery, with a focus on project management, business analysis, and organizational change management, working closely with executive leaders, staff, vendors, and IT service providers.
- Other responsibilities include IT governance, budget submissions, financial tracking and reporting, auditor responses, staff training, contract endorsements and approvals.
Typically, the knowledge and skills for this position are acquired through a bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration or a related discipline along with several years’ experience working within the Information Technology/Information Management sector. CBAP, IIBA, PMP or other professional designations are considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Knowledge of the justice system and government processes are a major asset.
