This Position reports to:

The ABB Measurement & Analytics plant in Quebec is a global leader in the field of spectroscopy. Our contract engineering service is the largest Canadian supplier of space optical sensors used, among other things, for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions and global weather forecasting. Our plant is also recognized for its expertise in the development and manufacturing of various products that meet a wide range of industrial analysis needs on a daily basis.

By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Quebec, you will actively contribute to the activities of a dynamic and stimulating multidisciplinary team.

Reporting to the supervisor of the electronics group, you will work as a Technician in wiring, assembly, testing, and hardware coordination within the electrical engineering team (Electronics Group).

Your Role: Take on the Challenge

  • Assemble harnesses and electronic boards for prototypes and test equipment.
  • Create cable drawings (connector selection, wiring, etc.).
  • Act as a facilitator for assembly and manufacturing issues related to cables and harnesses (DFM role).
  • Participate in the commissioning of electronic boards and cable testing.
  • Follow up on orders with suppliers, goods reception, quality control, internal warehouse, and internal parts traceability.
  • Support buyers in their negotiation strategies and decision-making regarding part equivalencies.
  • Manage communications with project managers regarding material availability.

What it takes to run what runs the world

  • Technical DEC with at least one significant experience in electronic board assembly and harness wiring.
  • Strong teamwork skills, rigor, initiative, and determination.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Visio.
  • Good command of French and English, both spoken and written. French is required. English is also required to regularly communicate with clients outside Quebec.
  • Knowledge of Windchill, JIRA, and SAP (an asset).
  • Knowledge of electronic board and harness manufacturing/inspection according to IPC 610 and IPC 620 standards (an asset).
