About the team: The Emerging Storage Lab is a research group based at Huawei Canada's Toronto and Vancouver Research Centre that is focused on next-generation storage technologies and innovations. Our team comprises graduate computer engineers and computer scientists with diverse industry experience, ranging from 0 to over 20 years. This lab investigates various storage-related topics, including storage devices, persistent memory, file systems, storage networks, and AI storage, aiming to advance the field and drive storage technological progress in the new AI era.
About the job:
- Conduct advanced research on how AI and data storage intersect, focusing on developing innovative storage technologies that enhance AI training and inference.
- Explore and implement emerging storage technologies that are specifically designed to accelerate AI workloads and improve the efficiency of AI infrastructure.
- Design the architecture of storage components and subsystems to meet the unique demands of AI-driven applications.
- Implement software solutions that optimize storage systems for AI processes, ensuring they can handle large-scale data and computational requirements.
- Attend top international conferences such as NeurlPS, ICLR, FAST, FMS, and more to gain insight into the latest and future technology trends.
- Work closely with international teams, leveraging global expertise to enhance the quality and impact of your work.
- At the conclusion of projects, travel to our headquarters in China to deliver your findings, contribute to strategic discussions, and ensure seamless integration of your work into broader company initiatives.
Job requirements
About the ideal candidate:
- PhD or Master in Computer Science or Engineering.
- 4+ years’ experience working in research-oriented environment.
- Experience and knowledge with AI/ML/LLM and storage technologies.
- Experience with publishing papers in top AI Storage conferences (i.e., FAST, NeurIPS).
- Skilled in C, C++, or Python programming.
