About the role
Pacer Building Components is hiring an experienced Sr. Design team member to join our amazing team in Ilderton, Ontario (London). Pacer Building Components (an Atlas Engineered Products (AEP) Company), is Canada’s only
publicly traded suppliers of trusses, and engineered wood products, and one of Canada’s fastest growing companies with manufacturing and distribution facilities throughout the country.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be flexible, adaptable, detail-oriented and motivated, with a focus on providing a high degree of external and internal customer service as we grow our team and business!
Our Sr. Designer will be accountable to focus specifically on floor designs for production. The ideal candidate is able to independently release designs to production, and review and check designs to production for Intermediate and Jr, Designers.
Our Sr. Designer will also be accountable for doing layouts and estimates for floor quotes.
Producing roof and/or wall truss designs for production would be advantageous.
Qualifications

2+ Years releasing designs to Production
-
Expert blueprint reading skills (architecture, structural and mechanical)
-
Experience and knowledge of rough framing and the construction process
-
Lead complex projects and resolve design challenges
-
Able to create lean and plant efficient designs to optimize plan/build and cost efficiency
-
Exceptional command of local and national building codes, structural analysis, and structural engineering
-
Extensive experience in the application of building components and connections of floor and roof systems, the application of floor (I-Joist and LVL), roof and floor (truss) systems and tall walls and other engineered wood products using MiTek software.

Ability to provide technical direction for the development of placement plans and quality control

Familiarity with product costing

Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word and Excel

Ability to set realistic objectives
-
Ability to learn, adopt, and apply new technologies, practices and solutions in an effective manner

Strong problem solving skills to resolve incomplete, ambiguous project requirements, errors or omissions within blueprints
-
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Experience with growing companies supporting builders, construction, or multi-site manufacturing organizations would be an asset.
