Job Description As part of a new RFQ, CS Group Canada is seeking a Senior / Staff Closures Systems Engineer to support engineering activities on automotive closure systems (sliding doors, tailgates, latches). This role requires strong technical leadership, full system integration capabilities, and experience supporting a product from early development through high-volume production.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the system architecture for closures systems (actuators, sensors, switches, ECUs).
- Define, analyze, and validate system requirements (functional, performance, diagnostics).
- Drive SFMEA/DFMEA activities and propose robustness improvements.
- Support the definition of diagnostics and prognostics strategies.
- Collaborate closely with Firmware, EE, Vehicle Subsystems, Operations, and Service teams.
- Manage and analyze failure modes, including motor jams, latch misalignment, switch failures, and position sensor errors.
- Support the system from early development all the way into high-volume production.
- Provide senior-level expertise and lead a small engineering scope or team when required.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in automotive closure systems.
- Strong system-level understanding (mechanical, electrical, software, and vehicle network integration).
- Demonstrated experience with failure modes and robustness improvements.
- Solid knowledge of vehicle networks (CAN/LIN) and ECU interfaces.
- Comfortable working in a cross-functional and fast-paced engineering environment.
- Proven experience taking systems into mass production.
- Technical leadership, autonomy, and strong ownership.
