Welding Engineering Technologist
About the role
The Welding Engineering Technologist will play a pivotal role in fulfilling customized customer needs in the automation and robotic welding industry. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years experience exclusively in welding, welding technology and applications or welding inspection with a preference for submerge weld expertise. Projects will be delegated and prioritized by the Applications resource Center Manager to help manage the technical operations and applications development of the customers product. Troubleshoot, test, plan an assist with fabricating and assembly customized parts. Develop and deliver trainings, equipment demonstrations and presentations. This will be onsite at our Mississauga facility and also requiring travel (25%) to our customers throughout Canada.
Technical Operations & Application Development
Collect, review, and organize: Technical drawings and specifications Test plans and project documentation Assemble and fabricate customer parts based on engineering drawings Develop and validate welding and application solutions for various industry needs Support R&D initiatives, testing, and product/application trials Lead the investigation and resolution of technical issues, including:
Interface with
Customers Distributors Sales Representatives Provide clear documentation of findings, root cause analysis, and implemented solutions Support pre-sale and post-sale technical inquiries Contribute to application recommendations and product selection
Develop and deliver
Technical training sessions Equipment demonstrations Application presentations Prepare supporting materials, including presentation slides and technical documentation
Participate in industry events such as
Conferences Seminars Technical forums Continuously expand technical knowledge and industry awareness Safely operate all ARC equipment, tools, and processes in accordance with company and regulatory standards
Immediately report
Safety hazards Malfunctioning equipment Unclear or unsafe procedures Maintain strict adherence to all ARC safety protocols Actively contributes to a culture of safety and risk prevention Reports directly to the ARC Manager Maintains continuous communication regarding: Operational updates Technical challenges Safety concerns Project progress and priorities Actively contribute to: Solution development initiatives Innovation in application techniques Process improvements within ARC Identify and implement cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing opportunities Support company profitability through operational and technical improvements Maintain ARC workspace according to 5S principles: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain Organizing and relocating equipment Maintaining cleanliness and order Managing inventory and purchasing supplies
Education and Experience
Welding Engineering Diploma or Higher Education equivalent; Technologist Degree in Mechanical or welding related field Minimum 3-5 years exclusive welding experience, submerge welding knowledge preferred CSA W178.2 Certified Welding Inspector certification (required or in progress) Commitment to ongoing professional development and technical skill advancement Willing to travel 25% of time to customer facilities throughout Canada
