API Automation Tester
About the role
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced API Automation Tester with 7+ years of experience in software testing and automation. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in API automation using Java and Python, hands-on experience with Selenium, Robot Framework, and a solid understanding of RESTful APIs, test automation frameworks, and CI/CD practices. Experience working in Agile environments is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for REST APIs using Java or Python. Build and enhance API automation frameworks using Robot Framework and other automation tools. Automate functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end API test cases. Validate API requests and responses using JSON/XML payloads. Perform UI automation using Selenium WebDriver where required. Execute automated test suites and analyze test results. Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to understand requirements and define test strategies. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps. Identify, document, and track software defects using defect management tools. Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. Ensure test coverage, quality metrics, and timely delivery of testing activities.
Required Skills
7+ years of experience in Software Testing and Test Automation. Strong programming skills in Java and Python. Hands-on experience with API Automation Testing using REST Assured, Requests library, or similar frameworks. Strong experience with Robot Framework. Experience with Selenium WebDriver for UI automation. Knowledge of REST APIs, HTTP methods, JSON, XML, OAuth, and API authentication. Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or Swagger. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git. Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions. Strong SQL skills for database validation. Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps. Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
