Senior Network Engineer
Position Overview:
Lambert Nemec Group is partnering with a respected and innovative organization in their search for a Senior Network Engineer . This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly experienced cloud and telecom network specialist to make a meaningful impact in a complex, high-availability environment.
In this role, you will take ownership of designing and optimizing sophisticated AWS-based network architectures, strengthening enterprise security frameworks, and enhancing telecom messaging infrastructure. This position is ideal for a senior-level professional who thrives on solving intricate technical challenges and influencing mission-critical systems while working in a flexible, part-time capacity.
Key Responsibilities:

Architect and implement advanced multi-region AWS network environments, including Transit Gateway, hybrid connectivity, and scalable traffic inspection frameworks
-
Design and optimize enterprise security solutions, including FortiGate firewalls, deep packet inspection, and SSL/TLS inspection, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and ISO 27001

Develop resilient, high-availability network designs with automated failover, disaster recovery strategies, and proactive monitoring

Engineer and support secure VPN solutions (IPsec, SSL/TLS) with dynamic routing protocols such as BGP to ensure performance and reliability
-
Lead advanced routing and infrastructure optimization for SMSC and MMSC telecom messaging platforms, ensuring high throughput and intelligent failover
-
Implement automation and Infrastructure as Code practices using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and scripting languages to improve scalability and operational efficiency
Requirements:
-
8+ years of progressive experience in senior-level network engineering roles
-
Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)

Strong expertise in AWS cloud networking, including VPC architecture, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and Route 53
-
Demonstrated experience with enterprise firewall technologies, deep traffic inspection, IDS/IPS, and compliance-driven security environments
-
Advanced knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), TCP/IP, subnetting, and switching
-
Hands-on experience with telecom messaging infrastructure (SMSC and/or MMSC) in high-availability configurations
-
Proficiency in automation and monitoring tools, along with strong packet analysis and troubleshooting capabilities

Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
