We invite motivated and curious students currently enrolled at a Canadian post -secondary institution to apply for Student Research Assistant positions with Medicine Hat College’s Centre for Innovation (C4i). There are approximately 10 positions available.
####A little about the role:
These opportunities support a diverse portfolio of applied research and innovation projects in areas such as environmental sciences, health and wellness, technology validation, digital innovation, community engagement, and regionally focused problem-solving. Successful candidates will be assigned to project streams based on their background, experience, and interests.
These positions provide hands on experience in applied research, opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, and the chance to contribute to meaningful regional impact. These grant funded roles are available with term lengths ranging from 6 to 16 weeks and work hours varying from 10 to 35 hours per week, depending on the academic schedules.

Current and upcoming projects may include:
Environmental & Field Research
- Deploying, monitoring, and retrieving research equipment (e.g., selective fishing systems)
- Conducting field data collection, environmental sampling, biological measurements, and site documentation
- Transporting, cleaning, and sterilizing equipment per environmental protocols
- Supporting invasive species management, strategy development, and reporting
Communications & Knowledge Mobilization
- Creating public-facing materials (brochures, signage, media releases)
- Preparing and supporting presentations for community groups, government agencies, and partners
Technology, Health, Business & Innovation
- Conducting research to support technology validation, health/wellness studies, or digital innovation
- Collecting, organizing, and analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative data
- Identifying project-specific challenges and recommending actionable solutions
General Applied Research Support (applicable to all positions)
- Performing literature reviews to inform planning, proposals, and knowledge mobilization
- Assisting with project coordination, documentation, and communication
- Preparing reports, summaries, and presentation materials for internal and external partners
- Supporting community engagement and stakeholder collaboration

As a successful applicant you'll have:
- Strong interest in research, innovation, and practical problem-solving
- Keen attention to detail in data collection, documentation, and coordination
- Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the C4i team
- Initiative, curiosity, and willingness to contribute ideas and take ownership
- Experience with independent research or project-based coursework is an asset
You may have a background or strong interest in one or more of the following areas:

Terms of Employment
