At ATB, we exist to make it possible for our clients, team members and communities. Our purpose is more than aspirational. It's a real commitment we live every day through our values (what we call the ATB ID).

Life at ATB is about more than work. In fact, we’re consistently recognized as one of Canada's top employers thanks to our high-care, high-performance culture, upheld by the three commitments we make to our team members:

Impact in action: No matter where you are in the organization, you're empowered to make an impact in the lives of our clients and communities.

Thrive together: We want you—the unique, authentic you—to feel safe and celebrated at work. We're on a continuous journey to build the most flexible and inclusive programs.

Ready for tomorrow: We want to enable your success through interesting and challenging work, performance enablement, and learning and development.

About the Role

Are you a technical accounting expert with a passion for precision and a talent for building robust financial frameworks? Do you thrive in the details of full-cycle accounting while maintaining a sharp eye for process optimization and governance? If so, we invite you to elevate your career as a key contributor to our Corporate Accounting team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence ATB’s financial integrity through high-level analysis and the implementation of sophisticated internal controls.

As ATB’s Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, you will be at the heart of our financial reporting, managing everything from complex consolidations to investment accounting. You will act as a strategic advisor, bridging the gap between intricate IFRS requirements and operational excellence. This is an individual contributor position with no direct reports; however, it carries significant influence as you will collaborate across Finance, Treasury, Risk, and business units to establish governance for new processes and recommend improvements that drive the enterprise forward.

Accountabilities

  • Execute the end-to-end full-cycle accounting process, including periodic close processes, consolidations, and general ledger reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of enterprise-wide financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with the Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting team in designing and establishing robust controls and governance frameworks for new and existing business processes to mitigate risk and ensure operational excellence.
  • Provide specialized expertise in investment accounting, mergers and acquisitions, and comprehensive general ledger analysis to maintain the integrity of ATB’s complex financial portfolios.
  • Analyze existing accounting workflows to identify, recommend, and implement strategic process improvements and automation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Treasury, Risk, Finance, and business units to provide technical accounting guidance on new product initiatives and structural changes.
  • Partner with the external financial reporting group to ensure rigorous compliance with IFRS standards and regulatory requirements through the detailed review of financial statements and disclosures.
  • Contribute to the continuous evolution of ATB’s corporate accounting capabilities by staying ahead of industry trends and accounting standard updates.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • A valid CPA (or CA, CMA, or CGA) designation.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience with a proven track record in full-cycle accounting, consolidation, and the preparation of complex stand-alone reports.
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with demonstrated expertise in advanced general ledger analysis and a proven ability to identify trends, anomalies, and strategic opportunities for workflow optimization.
  • Deep knowledge of IFRS standards and experience with large-scale ERP systems and system-to-system integrations.
  • Proven ability to explain technical accounting complexities to non-finance stakeholders and senior management.

Beneficial/Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience in investment accounting and managing the accounting for complex investment portfolios and financial instruments is a significant asset.
  • An understanding of the unique regulatory landscape and reporting requirements inherent to the banking and financial services industry.
  • Technical proficiency in tools such as SAP Fiori and Tableau to navigate enterprise data and create impactful financial visualizations.
  • Foundational knowledge of SQL and/or Google BigQuery for data extraction and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to harness automation tools or AI-driven solutions to streamline accounting workflows and enhance the efficiency of financial data processing.

Additional Information

  • This role has a hybrid work arrangement. You’ll work both remote and onsite, where time onsite is based on your job accountabilities and performance objectives.
  • This is a temporary position, with the potential to become permanent.
  • Expected start date will be mid to late-May 2026, with a duration of 12 months.

Don’t meet all the requirements on the list?
A resume only goes so far in expressing who you are and the unique perspectives you bring. If you believe your skills and experience align with the role—but you might not check all the boxes—we want to hear from you. We encourage candidates from all work backgrounds, equity-seeking communities and experience levels to apply. If you’re seeking a career where your drive, perspective and growth are celebrated, we want to hear from you.

We’re dedicated to building a workforce reflective of those within our communities, and a culture where our team members are equipped with what they need to succeed—their way. Part of creating an inclusive workplace is recognizing our role in advancing Truth and Reconciliation. We are committed to meeting and exceeding the standards set out in the Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations program created by the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.
