The City Arts Centre is currently looking for experienced Music Instructors to lead our popular Child and Youth programs! Share your expert knowledge and passion for guitar, ukulele, voice or piano with the citizens of Edmonton! As an instructor, you must be confident and competent in your field and enjoy teaching others. You will be required to plan, prepare and teach lessons to a variety of skill levels and participants of all ages.
What you will do:
- Plan and implement weekly music lessons to groups of 8 students
- Teach and demonstrate music skills according to established curriculum
- Organize and present technical knowledge to children and youth
- Answer student questions and using effective communication skills
- Actively engage in the safety, well-being and development of children/youth in your class
- Encourage and facilitate social, physical and skill development in a positive manner
- Maintain the highest level of health and safety standards at City Arts Centre and its outreach facilities
- Communicate regularly with coordinators and facility staff
- Attend seasonal in-services, mock emergency sessions and other training as necessary
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Valid Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C is a requirement of this position
Assets:
- Completion of formal training in your field or equivalent experience
Skills required for success:
- Proven skills in area of specialization Previous teaching experience in a classroom setting or equivalent
- Experience instructing children ranging from 4-16 years of age
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a classroom setting with a variety of age groups and physical abilities
- Ability to work alone and independently
- Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies
- Embracing a Culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion
Conditions of employment:
- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
- Valid Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C is a requirement of this position

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
Salary: $26.250 - $36.750 (Hourly)
