About the role
This position is responsible for the design, deployment, management, and security of storage and compute infrastructure for MCAP. This includes the planning, management and monitoring of the physical server and storage infrastructure, as well as the deployment, monitoring and management of the Operating Systems.
Strategy and Planning
Collaborate with the team to assess near- and long-term capacity needs. Create and maintain documentation as it relates to infrastructure configuration, disaster recovery, processes, and service records. Work with appropriate stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, in order to identify and resolve business systems issues. Performs estimating, prioritizing, planning of tasks to reliably and consistently deliver according to plan.
Acquisition and Deployment
Conduct research as directed on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts. Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, software upgrades and cloud services Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making procurement decisions.
Operational Management
Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices. Manage servers, cloud services, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers/services and their associated operating systems and software Contribute to system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmer and development teams. Perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes. Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports. Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems. Develop and test scripts, programs, code, and configuration in support of optimizing routine operations and tasks. Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis in support of incident and problem management. Recommended options to address identified issues.
What You Bring To The Team
5-7 years relevant experience VMware /Microsoft MCSE/ ITIL work experience Extensive experience designing, deploying, and administering mission critical servers. Experience analyzing marketplace trends and determining applicability to MCAPs environment Designing and deployment of automation technologies Experience with design, implementation, and management of cloud services Experience with large scale storage and backup solutions; specifically, Veeam Backup. Incident, Change and Problem Management procedures – preferably in an ITIL driven environment. Installation and administration of virtual computing platforms (VMware vSphere version 8) Minimum knowledge of cloud native development practices and design patterns using private or public cloud providers required Basic understanding of cloud patterns and infrastructure management using private or public cloud providers required Minimum knowledge of cloud native development practices and design patterns using private or public cloud providers required Basic understanding of cloud patterns and infrastructure management using private or public cloud providers required Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field VMware Certification ITIL Foundation Certification 2016/2019 Windows enterprise server platforms.
