Summer Student role under the Canada Summer Jobs Grant
SCOPE OF POSITION
Under the supervision of the Community Support Services (CSS) Team Manager, the Program Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to the team in the delivery of core community services activities and programs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with planning of Community Support Services activities and programs
- Assist in promoting a positive and welcoming environment for clients and family members
- Provide program and administrative assistance to the Community Support Services team
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be between the ages of 15 to 30 and legally entitled to work in Canada
- Social Services Worker or Gerontology program and/or equivalent related experience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Excellent computer and administrative skills
- Knowledge of Seniors programs and services
- Experience working with seniors and/or their caregiver
- Experience with and sensitivity to diverse community groups
- Ability to communicate fluently in English, spoken and written; French and/or other languages are an asset
- Available to work flexible hours
SALARY/HOURS OF WORK
- 35 hours per week, ability to work flexible hours is required
- $17.60 hourly (plus 4% vacation pay)
This role is contingent upon funding.
