Position Overview:

Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology (IT), the IT Operations Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the daily activities of the IT operations team to ensure the optimal performance, availability, and security of the Town’s systems and networks. This role ensures that IT services align with organizational goals and service level agreements (SLAs), while fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement. Acting as a senior technical resource, the IT Operations Supervisor assists with complex issues, collaborates with technical staff to resolve problems, supports project delivery, and identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. The role also provides leadership and mentorship to the IT team, supporting their professional development and ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical support across the organization.

Core Accountabilities:

Leadership

  • Demonstrates a willingness and commitment to learning over time for improved service delivery and organizational efficiency

  • Ability to align IT operations with organizational goals and service-level agreements (SLAs), ensuring technology supports business objectives.

  • Directly supervises IT staff responsible for operational activities and systems

  • Provides clear, consistent guidance and direction to the operations team

  • Provides mentorship and skill development opportunities to junior staff

  • Makes critical operational decisions for lifecycle, maintenance planning, troubleshooting and disaster management

Job Knowledge

  • Manages corporate IT infrastructure, workstations, peripherals, printers, and other IT assets

  • Manages asset inventory, lifecycle planning and procurement of IT assets

  • Stays current with modern technologies and trends and provide strategic input to the Town’s IT roadmap.

  • Assists with operational budgets and collaborates with the Manager of IT to plan for and deploy resources efficiently

  • Identifies user training needs

  • Contributes to the upkeep and maintenance of contracts and leases pertaining to information systems, services, networks, printers, and licensing

  • Has a deep understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, cloud services, and cybersecurity principles to guide operational decisions confidently

Education & Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in the field of Computer Sciences or equivalent – required
  • Additional post-secondary education, training, and courses in computer technologies and programs considered – preferred
  • Industry recognized certification such as Microsoft 365, Azure, CCNA, ITIL or PMP or equivalent experience – preferred

Experience:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills – required
  • Previous experience in a supervisory position – preferred
  • Group facilitation and/or training experience – asset
  • Familiarity with administering Microsoft Office applications, latest Operating Systems and the technologies identified above – required
  • Effective communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work with internal and external customers – required
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills with the ability to work through complex projects while balancing the needs and requirements of multiple interest holders – required

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary Range- $114,459.80 to $120,829.80 per annum to start. Compensation will be calculated based on the successful candidate’s related work experience and education

  • This is a permanent full-time position

  • Hybrid: expected to be in the office minimum of 3 days a week
