About the role
Do you want to watch your community change, or do you want to be the one to shape it ?
Because we’re hoping you’re here for the latter.
Join Aryze as a Marketing & Engagement Support team member.
Why Aryze?
Building communities is about more than simply building homes. That’s why we foster a strong vision for what a city can be—and act on it.
As a certified B Corp, we meet rigorous standards for creating positive impact—through how we govern, support our team, engage with communities and care for the environment. Recognized nationally for our innovative approach to development, Aryze is a dedicated team of home builders, urban planners and urbanists, all deeply committed to increasing the quality of communities across Greater Victoria and beyond. This approach has resulted in award-winning projects like: Pearl Block—missing middle townhomes on a challenging triangular lot; Rotunda—architecturally-significant condos in a neighbourhood with room to grow; and Tiny Homes—transitional housing units built from repurposed shipping containers for some of our community’s most vulnerable.
If you thrive in a collaborative environment where your ideas matter, join our growing team. Together, we’re city-building for the better.
Who are we?
We are a local Victoria-based group of next-generation leaders trying to build homes, but really, we like to think of ourselves as entrepreneurs with an underlying goal of building better communities. What began with building a swim dock and a floating tree in the Gorge Waterway (and engaging in a political conversation or two) has grown into a mission: to demystify and disrupt the real estate industry by making room for more housing in Victoria neighbourhoods with room to grow.
We believe that every neighbourhood should have diverse housing types and tenures for all incomes and demographics. A densified, compact, walkable lifestyle is critical to solving our climate and housing crisis; all while creating more livable and healthier communities.
While we bring a number of innovative infill development projects to market, Aryze’s earliest roots are in quality and unique construction. Our focus to build with the highest standards of craft, design and efficiency has distinguished our homes from others on the block.
Who are you?
You have a passion for taking on projects that are unique—sometimes a bit weird—and delivered in an entrepreneurial environment where excellence is expected. You thrive in dynamic environments and bring a blend of social energy and tactical execution to everything you do. Most of all, you want to be part of a team where you are more than an employee number; you want to contribute to a team that creates tangible, neighbourly impact.
Still here? Good. Because if this resonates with you, we’d love to hear about it in your cover letter.
Reporting to both the Marketing & Communications Manager and Communications & Engagement Manager, the Marketing & Engagement Support team member is a key facilitator for expanding Aryze’s community presence through visible, impact-driven outreach. In this role, you will serve as a primary driver for our "on-the-street" presence, helping us build trust-based connections with our neighbours, trade community, and housing advocates. This is a high-energy role with a great opportunity to gain tangible industry experience.
Success in this role requires excellent interpersonal skills, a self-starter mindset and a proactive approach to project execution. The role is offered on a casual, hourly basis via a roster system; therefore, a mix of weekday, evening, and weekend flexibility is required to successfully support the needs of the role.
Overview
Reporting to both the Marketing & Communications Manager and Communications & Engagement Manager, the Marketing & Engagement Support team is a key facilitator for expanding Aryze’s community presence through visible, impact-driven outreach. In this role, you will be a primary driver for our "on-the-street" presence, helping us build trust-based and impact-driven connections with our neighbours, trade community and those interested in housing advocacy throughout our city. Responsibilities include field-based engagement, logistical event support and the meticulous management of marketing campaign assets to ensure long-term operational success.
One day you might be the face of Aryze at a community festival; the next, you might be conducting research or door-knocking to share exciting project updates. This role requires a detail-oriented approach and a genuine love for people, providing you with foundational industry experience in:
- Public Engagement: Learning how to navigate complex community conversations.
- Event Activation: Mastering the logistics of high-visibility local festivals.
- Campaign Management: Executing the tactical components of integrated marketing campaigns.
Suited for those with industry experience and enthusiasm alike, this role is a front-row seat to the world of urban development and community relations. The ideal candidate is currently in post-secondary education or seeking hands-on experience in the development and construction industry. We know this is a big list, so we will consider applicants with less experience but who have the drive and energy to help make our work a success.
This is a casual, hourly role offering flexibility for both you and our team. As our community engagement and events are project-based, successful candidates will have the availability to support a varied schedule of weekdays, evenings, and weekends as needs arise.
We are looking to build a talented pool of multiple candidates, with hours distributed on a flexible shift basis to support specific projects, community festivals and outreach campaigns on an as-needed basis. While much of the coordination happens at our office, you will frequently be out in the field, making a tangible impact in the neighbourhoods and communities we serve.
Anticipated Areas of Support
- Neighborhood Outreach: Lead door-knocking initiatives and flyer distribution to keep residents informed about project updates and community milestones.
- Event Coordination: Support the physical setup, execution and tear-down of community festivals, open houses and pop-up engagement events.
- Public Interaction: Act as a friendly and informed representative of the company, answering community inquiries and guiding residents to further resources.
- Asset & Inventory Management: Maintain organized records of marketing collateral, event kits, and branded merchandise to ensure the team is always event-ready.
- Field Data Collection: Assist the team by gathering community feedback or capturing "on-the-ground" insights during outreach.
- Campaign Support & Execution: Provide agile assistance for diverse marketing initiatives, including the preparation of project mail-outs, assembly of "welcome home" packages, and ensuring all physical marketing touchpoints meet our high standards of presentation before they reach the community.
- Travel, as required
- Additional related duties, as required
Skills
- Interpersonal Excellence: A natural ability to engage with diverse groups of people with warmth, professionalism, and active listening.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where tasks can shift from administrative support to physical event setup.
- Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently in the field and take ownership of tasks without constant direct supervision.
- Local Knowledge: A strong affinity for the local community and an interest in how real estate and urban development shape our neighbourhoods.
- Operational Reliability: Strong organizational skills with a commitment to punctuality and meticulous handling of company equipment and merchandise.
Success in this Role
-
Adaptive Scheduling: You thrive in a role where no two weeks look the same, successfully managing your personal commitments alongside our project-based needs for weekday, evening, and weekend support.
-
A "Team-First" Attitude: You recognize that excellence is in the details; you are happy to roll up your sleeves for the "behind-the-scenes" work, knowing that organized merch and prepared kits are what make our community wins possible.
-
Positive Community Presence: You act as a professional and welcoming face for the company, consistently receiving positive feedback from neighbors and community members during outreach.
-
Reliability & Trust: You are a dependable "go-to" team member for both the Marketing and Engagement managers, completing tasks with high attention to detail and minimal supervision.
Qualifications
Experience: The ideal candidate is currently in post-secondary education or seeking hands-on experience in the development and construction industry. Suited for those with industry experience and enthusiasm alike.
Education: Actively in post-secondary education for development, communications, public administration or planning, or a combination of experience and enthusiasm.
Scope & Availability
This is a casual, on-call role with no guaranteed minimum hours or fixed weekly schedule. Successful candidates will be added to a talent roster, where shift opportunities are offered via a team call-out on a first-available/first-confirmed basis as project needs arise. This model is designed to offer maximum flexibility on both sides—allowing you to accept work that fits your schedule while helping Aryze scale our team for key community milestones and events.
Compensation
$25/hr. Casual employee. Flexible schedule on an ongoing basis.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
We are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment that embraces equity and promotes equal opportunities for all candidates. At Aryze, we recognize the value that people from different backgrounds, lived experiences and perspectives bring to our team, specifically when working within the realm of city-building. We believe that diversity fuels innovation, creativity, success—and fundamentally—better cities for all citizens.
