Reporting to the Sr. Manager Patient Support Services, the Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a high level of customer service satisfaction within the provisions of the Housekeeping, Linen and Transport Services of the Hospital in a unionized environment. This position is the primary point of contact for all service issues related to Housekeeping, Linen and Transport Services. The Supervisor is responsible for providing day to day supervision to front-line Housekeeping Aides, Patient Service Aides and Transport Aides within the department. This position is responsible for ensuring that adequate staffing levels are maintained to ensure the efficient operation of the department. The Supervisor will also be responsible for leading, training and managing a diverse workforce within a 24/7 operation which provides service across the entire Hospital

Here's What You Get To Do

  • Acts as the primary customer service contact on Housekeeping/Linen/Transport/Waste Management related matters to patients, families, nursing and other staff in the Hospital, working collaboratively to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Maintains a system of seamless delivery of all related services pertaining to Housekeeping, Linen and Transport services.
  • Prioritizes and ensures timely completion of service requests.
  • Works with Clinical Leaders and departmental managers to ensure Patient Service Aide services are provided to the patient units and cleaning services in non-patient areas meet standards and expectations.
  • Assists the Sr. Manager in the development of departmental objectives, goals, policies and procedures as set by Hospital Administrative policies, Canadian Accreditation Standards, and C.S.A. standards.
  • Implements and maintains the departmental quality assurance systems.
  • Prepares quality assurance reports from inspections and reviews with the Sr. Manager, ensuring a follow up action plan is in place for any deficiencies noted.
  • Participate in operational initiatives and technology improvements to improve service level outcomes.
  • Responsible for the day to day supervision of staff, including Patient Service Aides, Housekeeping Aides, Linen Porters, CS & TD Transport Aides.
  • Provides guidance, leadership and direction to staff through coaching, advising and mentoring to help enable staff to carry out their responsibilities aligning with the departments policies/procedures as well as legislation requirements of the Health Promotion Protection Act, OHSSS Act, WHMIS guidelines.
  • Promotes awareness of the occupational health and safety programs, and ensures that the department is in compliance through the department safety audit program.

Here's What You Need

  • Graduate of an applicable Community College level program and/ or
  • Successful completion of the OHA Environmental Services Leadership Certification- Level 1 & 2
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in either Environmental or Facilities Services in the health care field preferred .
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental health care services and procedures, Infection Control and C.S.A. Standards an asset
  • Familiarization with Housekeeping equipment and instrumentation considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supervising in a unionized environment strongly preferred .
  • Understanding infection control measures to ensure cleanliness is maintained and to avoid any cross contamination.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment where multiple priorities must be managed across three separate departments focusing on specific service needs (Housekeeping, Linen and Transport) responding to customer service issues to ensure concerns are being responded to accordingly. dealing with union executive representatives and a diverse workforce within a 24/7 operation across the entire hospital campus.
