Position Overview
This position is changed with the cleanliness of the facility and includes high dusting, damp dusting, dust mopping, wet and dry mopping, vacuuming and carpet cleaning, floor stripping and refinishing, waste handling.
Experience
- Minimum of one-year experience as a housekeeping cleaner in an institutional, commercial or healthcare facility will be considered. Training will be provided.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
Not Applicable
Qualifications and Skills
- Working knowledge of applicable sanitation and safety standards related to the department.
- Observe all aspects of resident safety at all times.
- Ability to learn and apply proper body mechanics, being able to bend, stoop, kneel, stretch over and under furnishings and building fixtures.
- Ability to work from and climb stepladders.
- Maintain a high standard of service and cleanliness.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in English; both orally and in writing.
Physical Requirements
- May involve exposure to disease, toxic materials, noise, allergens, blood, feces, body fluids, etc.
- May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals.
- Performing physical activities that require considerate use of arms and legs and moving of body, such as bending, lifting, balancing, walking and stooping.
