Your Opportunity
The Service Worker II supports the Operating Room (OR) and Minor Surgery Clinic (MSC) as part of the dynamic healthcare team by ensuring efficient, safe patient care and workflow. This role involves direct patient interaction and a variety of support tasks such as assisting with patient transport, positioning, and preparation for surgery. This is a physically demanding role in a very dynamic and acute environment. Key responsibilities include: Preparing and maintaining surgical rooms before and after procedures (setting up equipment, cleaning, restocking). Assisting the surgical team during patient transfers and positioning. Managing supplies and inventory, ensuring equipment availability. Cleaning and disinfecting equipment and care areas according to safety standards. Transporting patients, equipment, and materials (including blood products). Supporting overall OR operations by responding promptly to requests and maintaining sterile practices. The position operates under supervision, but requires anticipating needs and taking initiative. It requires attention to detail, especially regarding safety and sterile technique, while contributing to smooth day-to-day operations in surgical environments.

As a Service Worker II, you will be responsible for readying supplies, and cleaning/disinfecting instruments and specialty equipment for immediate use/reuse by healthcare staff. You will distribute and replenish patient care supplies, perform quality control tests on equipment and record maintenance data. You may also transport patients (clients/residents), equipment, lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required. In addition, you will ensure that patient care areas and other assigned areas are accurately stocked and that specialty equipment required by the healthcare staff is available.

Required Qualifications
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications
Demonstrates reliability and a cooperative attitude as well as promoting respect and team spirit. Ability to collaborate with in the expectations of a highly complex and integrated team. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapidly moving and complex team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
WHMIS certification. Basic computer skills are an asset. Connect Care experience. Communicates effectively, prioritize requests, and works well with a multi-disciplinary team.
