Overview of role

WestJet is looking for an innovative and collaborative individual on their Middleware to drive our technology and business forward. As a Senior Developer you play a critical role in delivering high quality agile solutions that enable our business for the future. Do you enjoy solving challenging problems? Key deliverables / responsibilities include

Develop and deliver innovative, enterprise solutions by designing and writing robust, extensible, high-quality code that meets business, technical and quality requirements Collaborate with Architects and Engineers to provide input around solution design Understand, challenge, and develop WestJet's coding standards and style guidelines Documentation and knowledge sharing of delivered applications and services Actively promote software development best practices, methodologies, and standards Engage in daily stand ups, requirements/estimation sessions, code reviews and sprint retrospectives Works closely with Business Analysts and product owners to ensure a clear understanding of business requirements Works closely with the QA team to collaborate on acceptance criteria and provide support through the testing process Provides prompt, efficient production technical support for Middleware technologies, including IBM MQ, APIs, messaging platforms, and integration services Provide off business hour on-call support for Integration Solutions on a weekly rotation Deploy/Implement solution updates/upgrades into multiple environments Guide and mentor technical staff, and provides input/feedback to Engineers and leadership Provide recommendations for the integration roadmap related to solutions, platforms, resiliency, scalability, and security Participate in requirements gathering and analysis for multiple products and initiatives Regularly makes decisions under minimal guidance that have a significant impact on the organization Manage different priorities and collaborate with cross-functional teams Implement and support a variety of deployment strategies across multiple environments Experience and qualifications: 8+ years of experience in software development supported by a bachelor’s degree 8+ years working with agile DevOps teams 8+ years of experience in Java development 5+ years of experience with cloud and enterprise integration technologies, including Kubernetes, Azure API Management, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Function Apps, Azure Service Bus, Azure Kubernetes Service, Kafka, and IBM MQ. 5+ years’ experience CI/CD, terraform, SDLC, and SCRUM/Agile framework 5+ years of experience in ORM frameworks (Hibernate, JPA) and Web services (REST, SOAP) Expert knowledge of Microservices development with Spring Boot Experience with XSLT, Apache Camel, IBM MQ, Kafka and Azure API Management Experience with containers (Docker) and serverless workloads Experience mentoring/coaching developers and students Broad knowledge of all aspects of IT, including application development, network and system administration, quality assurance, and application and data management Nice to have automated testing frameworks/tools, IIB and DataPower experience Experience with ITIL considered an asset The benefits of being a WestJetter: WestJet provides all WestJetters with a competitive total rewards package.
