Position Description
CGI’s Trade and Finance group is seeking a skilled and motivated Application Support Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions that support our global trade industry clients. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment focused on delivering excellence through automation, scalability, and performance.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Collaborate with the application support team to set up, maintain, and upgrade production and non-production environments.
- Monitor and report on system performance, risks, and project status to project managers and leadership.
- Coordinate effectively with internal teams and clients, ensuring clear and timely communication.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application and infrastructure issues across multiple environments.
- Design and implement automated DevOps solutions and tools to streamline operations.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
- Minimum 3 years of experience in supporting large-scale, multi-tier applications.
- Strong background in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) technologies and architecture is highly desirable.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on performance and scalability.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL (development and performance analysis).
- Experience in web application development/support.
- Strong knowledge of Java, J2EE, and related technologies.
- Familiarity with XML/JSON data formats.
- Solid understanding of design patterns and object-oriented programming.
- Hands-on experience with ORM tools such as Hibernate or MyBatis.
- Expertise troubleshooting with applications on Spring Framework
- Experience developing and integrating Web Services.
Desired/Advanced Competencies:
- Application and network debugging.
- Web server configuration (Apache/Nginx).
- Application servers (JBoss, Spring).
- Linux scripting and automation.
- DevOps practices and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Certificate management and SMTP configuration.
- Security best practices, including SSO and ModSecurity setup.
- BOXI/Reporting experience
