This role offers the opportunity to become a leading voice in the mortgage and personal finance space within a fast-growing digital environment. The successful candidate will shape editorial strategy, create impactful financial content, and provide expert insights on mortgage trends and consumer needs. You will combine deep industry knowledge with strong storytelling skills to make complex financial topics accessible and engaging. Working across editorial, marketing, product, and analytics teams, you will help strengthen brand authority and improve customer decision-making. The role involves managing content quality, guiding contributors, and ensuring accuracy across multiple digital channels. You will also leverage data, SEO, and emerging content practices to optimize performance and identify new opportunities. Accountabilities
Act as the primary subject matter expert for mortgages and real estate, providing expert guidance and insights across editorial initiatives. Develop and execute a comprehensive mortgage content strategy focused on market trends, consumer needs, rate movements, and industry developments. Create, write, edit, and oversee high-quality content across multiple formats, including articles, landing pages, newsletters, videos, social media content, and media contributions. Strengthen editorial authority by producing accurate, timely, and engaging financial content tailored to Canadian consumers. Collaborate with communications teams by providing expert commentary, market insights, and data-driven perspectives for media opportunities. Maintain and refresh existing content, ensuring accuracy, relevance, compliance, and alignment with evolving financial products and market conditions. Establish and maintain editorial standards, style guidelines, workflows, and quality processes across internal teams and external contributors. Manage editorial calendars and ensure content delivery aligns with business priorities, compliance requirements, and audience expectations. Review, edit, and provide feedback on content produced by writers, freelancers, and subject matter experts to maintain a high editorial standard. Use SEO, GEO, analytics, and audience performance data to identify content opportunities, improve rankings, and optimize engagement. Manage freelance contributors by defining scopes, providing direction, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring consistent quality. Partner with product, design, marketing, and data teams to ensure content accurately reflects products, rates, and customer experiences. Lead sponsored content initiatives and coordinate between external partners and internal editorial teams.
Requirements
6–10 years of professional editorial experience, ideally within digital media, financial services, fintech, or high-volume content environments. Strong expertise in personal finance content, with significant knowledge of mortgages, real estate, lending practices, and Canadian financial products preferred. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, with the capacity to simplify complex financial topics for a broad consumer audience. Experience managing content across various formats, including articles, web pages, newsletters, social media, and video scripts. Strong understanding of Canadian mortgage products, interest rates, lending regulations, and the real estate market. Background in journalism, communications, English, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. Solid knowledge of SEO principles, including keyword research, content optimization, internal linking, and search-focused content structures. Familiarity with GEO strategies and the impact of AI-powered search on modern content creation. Ability to interpret performance metrics using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Semrush, or similar platforms. Experience mentoring writers, managing freelancers, and improving editorial team performance. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders effectively. Confident communication skills, with experience participating in interviews, video content, or public-facing media initiatives considered an asset. Familiarity with CMS platforms such as WordPress, project management tools like Asana or Notion, and editorial collaboration systems. Experience using AI-powered writing and editing tools responsibly while maintaining editorial quality and accuracy. Strong alignment with collaborative, growth-oriented, and data-driven work environments.
