Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site.
For this 2-year contracted position, we are seeking a detailed-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with various regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing payroll functions and maintaining accuracy in all payroll records and reports.
ROLE
- Manage payroll system configuration to ensure compliance with union contracts, hospital policies, and government regulations
- Process bi-weekly payroll, ensuring timely payments and compliance with banking deadlines
- Review payroll audit and exception reports to validate payroll accuracy and minimize errors
- Conduct audits of new hires, transfers, and terminations to ensure correct data entry and prevent fraudulent activities
- Investigate and process payroll adjustments during pre- and post-payroll cycles
- Support the extraction of payroll records for internal and external stakeholders
- Process statutory and non-statutory payroll remittances, ensuring accurate deductions (e.g., EI, CPP, WSIB, pension contributions)
- Prepare and amend Record of Employment (ROE) for terminations, retirements, and other employment events
- Guide time and attendance users to ensure accurate timecard capture within the scheduling module
- Administer pay rate increases and manual adjustments when required
- Collaborate with HR to implement system updates based on collective agreements, wage grid maintenance, and other policy changes
- Manage defined-benefit pension plan (HOOPP) contributions and reporting, ensuring accurate deductions and reconciliations
- Prepare and reconcile T4 data for timely submission to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
- Address payroll inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders
- Take on additional responsibilities as required by the organization
- Support the implementation of the People Center & Pay module within UKG
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCES

Post-secondary diploma in accounting and/or finance, from an accredited college

Canadian Payroll Association certification or enrolment an asset

Minimum 3 years’ recent experience, encompassing accounting responsibilities and payroll responsibilities for large employer(s); i.e. greater than 75 employees

Location: Multi-Site, working on-site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Duration: 2-year contract
Hours of Work: Monday-Friday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements.
