Your Opportunity To Make a Difference Are you an experienced professional in swine production with leadership skills? As a Team Lead in the Farrowing Barn at Canada Packers, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the health and welfare of our animals while leading a dedicated team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll contribute directly to our production goals and foster a culture of safety, excellence, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Be Doing Reporting to the Manager, Hog Barn, you’ll oversee all activities in the farrowing areas and supervise staff. Your responsibilities include:
- Managing Occupational Health and Safety protocols.
- Implementing CP programs to achieve production goals.
- Ensuring animal health and welfare, biosecurity, and vaccination schedules.
- Monitoring ventilation and heat settings.
- Recording and analyzing data accurately.
- Managing inventory and placing orders for medication and supplies.
- Ensuring cleanliness and adherence to washing and disinfecting procedures.
- Implementing feeding programs and monitoring hog body conditions.
- Applying culling criteria in collaboration with the Manager.
- Supervising and evaluating staff performance.
- Performing general maintenance tasks.
What you’ll bring:
- Minimum one year of experience in swine production.
- Supervisory or management experience with team leadership skills.
- Grade 12 diploma preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Alignment with Canada Packers’ Leadership Values and Code of Conduct.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to a rural location.
- Availability for weekend and holiday shifts on a rotational basis.
