FACULTY OF HEALTH STUDIES

NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re looking for multiple course casual Instructors to join our Faculty of Health Studies team at our Edmonton & Wetaskiwin campuses in our Health Care Aide program.

Graduates of NorQuest College’s Health Care Aide program are also Difference Makers in terms of the health care that Albertans receive. Our students prepare for their clinical experiences with theory and hands-on learning in multiple modes of delivery, and we are proud of the varied and robust learning experiences in our programs. We utilize low and high fidelity simulation to augment the learner experience, providing students with a safe learning environment to practice and reflect.

This position is a course casual position.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Plan, develop, and deliver instruction in classroom, lab, and clinical settings in alignment with the Health Care Aide curriculum.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct while fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide skill demonstrations, supervise practice, and assess student competency in accordance with program outcomes (GLOs/SLOs) and curriculum standards.
  • Provide formative and summative feedback, maintain accurate records, and input grades in compliance with College policies and provincial legislation.
  • Plan, implement, and modify individual learning plans; attend case conferences and implement Learning Improvement Plans as required.
  • Provide clinical oversight in SL and LTC settings, including facility liaison, student orientation, client assignments, and ongoing progress documentation.
  • Adhere to all health and safety, program, and College policies and procedures.
  • Maintain required professional certifications and engage in ongoing professional development.

In the Health Care Aid program, we ask that you commit to between 2 to 4 weeks full-time to take students out to clinical placements (Monday to Friday rotating days and evenings) at least twice in an academic term. There is a possibility of occasional Saturday and evening shifts.

Travel is required for clinical/practicum and some instances lab instruction.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Designation as an RN (with active registration with CRNA) or LPN (with active registration with CLPNA) with no conditions in Alberta is required.
  • Experience in Canada within the last three years required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in nursing or health related field is preferred.
  • If your education was received internationally we recommend you obtain an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations.
  • Minimum of 1 year of adult teaching experience required OR completion of a bachelor’s degree in education OR completion of an adult teaching/learning
  • program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time experience in clinical nursing preferred.

Compensation: HCA Lab Course or HCA Clinical Course are 3 to 5-credit courses that are compensated at a course casual rate per credit. An additional 11.2% is paid in lieu of benefits and vacation. This role falls under the NorQuest College Faculty Association. Please reference the NorQuest College Collective Agreement Appendix A to better understand how pay is determined.
