As Canada’s largest mental health care provider, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health provides evidence to drive system and policy change through the implementation of innovations and novel service delivery interventions. The Research Operations, Services and Support (ROSS) Office is a central group within CAMH Research that provides administrative support to ensure that all research activities carried out at CAMH or by CAMH personnel comply with funder, governmental or institutional policies and regulations.

We are seeking a full-time, contract (1-year) Program Officer to support and coordinate key initiatives and processes related to project management, implementation and communications of major philanthropic gifts in research, including, but not limited to womenmindTMand the Women’s Health Research Cluster. Reporting to the Manager, Philanthropic Gifts in Research, and in close collaboration with the Manager, Research and Centres of Innovation Communications and the Communications and Partnership team, the incumbent will be responsible for planning and coordinating a range of projects that aim to disseminate health research to diverse audiences. You will leverage your direct experience in health research to conceptualize and create strategic high-quality communications and media content for a variety of print and electronic platforms. This role will lead event coordination, including in-person and online events. Writing and event support will be key activities in this role, as will building and maintaining relationships across the hospital and with stakeholders.

This position will involve working between both our Queen Street and College Street sites.

In this role you will:

  • Support the development and implementation of new and existing initiatives and provide day-to-day operational support to program leads

  • Maintain effective working relationships with key team members across CAMH and at stakeholder organizations

  • Develop and implement communications strategies and knowledge translation activities, including social media and newsletter content creation

  • Maintain and update WordPress website

  • Coordinate key events (in-person, hybrid, virtual) including a seminar series, and provide support in organizing an annual conference as well as partner events

  • Execute and track success of plans to increase the reach of, and engagement with, our Knowledge Translation (KT) initiatives

  • Organize and coordinate event-based knowledge translation and capacity building initiatives

  • Coordinate and manage processes for part-time student staff, who support events and blogs

  • Monitor the progress of project activities; develop and maintain records of project activities and prepare reports as required

  • Contribute to strategy development and implementation to advance research in women’s mental health and supporting women in the sciences

Job Requirements

The Program Officer must have:

  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized academic institution in health sciences, broadly defined, or administration, communications, neuroscience, biology of sex, gender, or another relevant discipline is required.
  • 3+ years of general work experience, ideally in a service-oriented or coordinator role in a public sector setting, with preference given to experience in a health care setting
  • 1+ year of experience in general research or research administration
  • Experience developing and implementing small to medium scale projects required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and discretion and an interest in advancing the women’s mental health research and women in science
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated by translating complex concepts into accessible formats for mass audiences
  • Ability to create visual assets in Canva or Adobe Photoshop (or similar software)
  • Knowledge and experience of optimizing the use of social media platforms such as BlueSky, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin etc., and experience creating social media posts as well as engagement strategies
  • Knowledge of project management principles, with a high degree of organizational skills, flexibility and adaptability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines
  • Knowledge and expressed value with embedding equity, diversity, inclusion and access into all workplace activities

The ideal candidate would possess the following:

  • Understanding of research methodology, and/or experience working in a research setting
  • Understanding of the major issues in the women’s health field, or experience working in women’s health, or familiarity with women’s health research
  • Ability to identify needs in organizational practices, develop and implement solutions
  • Experience with website content management systems (e.g. WordPress) and other communication tools (e.g. MailChimp, Hootsuite, PowerPoint)
  • Prior podcasting experience
  • Knowledge Translation or related certificate an asset

Work is conducted during the typical workday hours, however, occasional attendance at and coordination of evening events may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hiring Salary Range: $63,824.57 – $79,780.71 per year (based on qualifications and experience)
  • Full Salary Range: $63,824.57 – $95,736.85 per year (reflecting potential growth within the role)
