About the role
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Accounts Receivable, the incumbent is responsible for the front line public contact for the purpose of the collection of student accounts receivables. The incumbent is expected to have considerable contact with the University’s students and administrative staff, both verbally and in writing. In addition to these duties, the incumbent is expected to assist with the coordination of registration procedures; the processing of data to student accounts, including some cashiering functions; to identify opportunities for enhancements to procedures or policies for accounts receivables; and assist in the direction/supervision of new and temporary staff.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Experience in an accounting environment is essential in ensuring that the work completed reflects proper accounting conventions and is auditable.
- Knowledge of accounts receivables and collection routines are required to secure payments.
- The incumbent must be articulate and possess excellent interpersonal skills due to the high level of customer contact.
- As a result of the web-based student account, a thorough knowledge of windows, spreadsheet programs, and world wide web navigation is essential.
- Knowledge of Carleton Central and SCT Banner is a definite asset.
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- Secondary School plus one year in accounting or bookkeeping at the post-secondary level.
- Three years experience in accounting/bookkeeping, including three years utilizing a computerized accounts receivable system.
- At least one year in a service oriented environment a must.
