Opportunity

EMB Management Ltd. is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Designer to support natural gas, utility, pipeline, and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a designer with strong technical experience in civil site design, grading, structural steel modeling, and utility infrastructure design.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing detailed design drawings, 3D models, and construction packages while working closely with engineering and project teams. Experience with natural gas facilities, pipeline projects, utility stations, regulator stations, meter stations, structural foundations, and site development projects is highly desirable.

Required Software Experience

Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit and AutoCAD is required. Experience with Autodesk Advance Steel, Navisworks, Plant 3D, or other civil/structural design software is considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop civil and structural design drawings for natural gas, utility, and infrastructure projects.
  • Develop structural steel and concrete foundation 3D models and drawings for utility facilities, equipment supports, buildings, and associated infrastructure.
  • Produce plan and profile drawings, sections, details, construction packages, and as-built documentation.
  • Coordinate survey data, terrain models, and geospatial information for project development.
  • Interpret engineering markups, specifications, field information, and client standards.
  • Generate material take-offs and support procurement documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, project managers, and other stakeholders throughout project execution.
  • Conduct quality reviews to ensure compliance with company, client, and industry standards.
  • Support the development and maintenance of drafting standards, templates, and CAD workspaces.
  • Experience with natural gas, pipeline, utility station, industrial facility, or linear infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to work in Canada, either under Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or work permit.
  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Structural Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of civil and/or structural design experience in utilities, natural gas, energy, or industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Experience developing 3D models and construction drawings.
  • Familiarity with coordinate systems and geospatial data.
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawing preparation and drafting standards.
  • Proficiency with required software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred

  • Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, or similar design platforms.
  • Knowledge of structural steel detailing and reinforced concrete foundation design.
  • Familiarity with CSA, ASTM, AISC, ASME, and applicable utility industry standards.
  • Experience with GIS platforms, Google Earth, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat.

Job Details

  • Job Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 
  • Expected Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Work Location: Hybrid or fully remote in British Columbia or Alberta
