The Product
The MADXR (Magnetic Anomaly Detection) is the latest generation of avionics system installed onboard surveillance airplanes and helicopters which allows for real time detection of submarines (hyperlink to product demo). The system has successfully demonstrated performance on key airborne platforms including the MH-60R and NH90 and demand from navies around the world is accelerating. Our team’s objective is to refine the product to scale production and develop the next generation of systems.
Description
As a member of the hardware engineering team, your primary role will be to validate and deliver the MAD-XR avionics product (magnetic anomaly detection) along with its associated equipment and integrate it onto our customers’ platforms. You will be responsible for improving the system design and production test sequences in order to increase the efficiency of the manufacturing process.
Within a multidisciplinary development environment composed of electronic, mechanical, and software engineers, you will support production by identifying issues and implementing permanent solutions to address them. You will interact with multiple groups within CAE, such as electronics, production, planning, and procurement teams, as well as external suppliers.
The position requires on-site presence at CAE, 8585 Chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse, and may occasionally require travel to customer sites.
Key Responsibilities Include
Lead bid-phase requirements analysis, including compliance assessment, development effort scoping, and maintaining complete requirements traceability to verification and testing Define, execute, analyze and document system tests to validate and deliver the product. This includes system validation testing, qualification testing and production testing. Support the manufacturing testing process by troubleshooting systems and drive initiatives to increase overall efficiency Produce customer deliverable technical documentation package, including system specifications, configuration management, and requirement traceability matrix; Participate in technical exchanges with customers to support project managers by providing expertise on hardware related topics; Develop test software to automate the testing process Design, integrate, validate, and document improvements to the MAD-XR product (magnetic anomaly detection) and associated equipment; Support project engineering to estimate scope, costs, and risks of targeted initiatives; Support various initiatives to enhance product reliability and mission success.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree aerospace, electrical or physics engineering; 5+ years of experience; Demonstrated experience defining test plans, executing qualification testing and reviewing results with customers. Knowledge of military standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, DO-160, etc.) is an asset; Demonstrated knowledge of C++, Python, C#. Demonstrated experience assessing compliance to requirements and producing requirements traceability matrix. Experience with DOORS is an asset. Demonstrated experience designing, integrating, validating or troubleshooting electronics or avionics systems. Experience with common electrical troubleshooting tools. Dynamic team spirit with a strong sense of initiative. Results-oriented attitude with good teamwork skills; Ability and interest in preparing customer facing technical documentation; Ability to adapt to change in a fast-evolving work environment and tolerate ambiguity; Ability to explain technical concepts to a wide range of audiences, both orally and in writing Be eligible to NATO clearance; Be able to meet the requirements of the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and, in some cases, ITAR requirements;
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of aircraft systems and flight dynamics Ability to educate yourself in the physics of magnetometers and apply knowledge to improve the product; Previous experience in the field of magnetometry Bilingualism (English and French)
