About the role

The Junior Welding Specialist is responsible for supporting activities related to welder qualifications, skills management and the coordination of testing with the various authorities. More specifically, you will:

  • Manage welders’ qualification cards in the system and ensure qualifications are kept up to date.
  • Track expiration dates and plan required renewals.
  • Coordinate and schedule qualification tests with external organizations (CWB, Lloyd’s, etc.).
  • Prepare the required documentation for testing and ensure compliance.
  • Work with Human Resources to track skills and training needs.
  • Learn and apply basic welding concepts, processes, and standards.
  • Interpret drawings, codes, and procedures, with guidance as required.
  • Provide technical support to the welding engineering department and to production

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma of college studies (DCS) in metallurgy, mechanical production, or a related field (graduating candidates and candidates with no experience are encouraged to apply).
  • Strong interest in learning welding processes and related standards.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation management and follow-up.
  • Proficiency with computer tools, including Excel, databases, and internal systems.
  • Teamwork skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of non-destructive testing (an asset).
  • Proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written. Fluency in English is required for this position, as you will interact with English-speaking suppliers, stakeholders or clients.
  • Successful completion of the security screening process and obtainment of the required security clearance under the Federal Government’s Contract Security Program (minimum of five [5] years of residency in Canada, with no interruption for [6] consecutive months).
