About Blue J

Blue J is the leading solution in generative AI for tax experts. Our cutting edge, AI-driven tax research software is the best in the market, driving deeper, more efficient research answers for accountants and lawyers across North America and in the UK.

We’re also an award-winning workplace whose success is intimately tied to our values-driven culture. We care deeply about our team’s experience at work, and our People team is obsessed with fostering and maintaining a collaborative, performance-driven, and happy environment for everyone who works here.

On the heels of our $122M USD Series D funding, we are looking for a Talent Acquisition Manager to support us with our hypergrowth journey. This is an exciting opportunity to join Blue J at a pivotal stage in our growth journey and have a major impact on building the team that wins our market.

A Note on Location

We are excited to meet with qualified candidates and are grateful for everyone’s interest. Please note that this is a hybrid position requiring applicants to be within driving distance of Toronto for in person meetings 1-2 times per quarter. All candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

About The Role

As our Talent Acquisition Manager, you’ll partner closely with the People team and hiring managers to attract exceptional talent and deliver a standout candidate and employee experience. Reporting to the Director of Talent Acquisition, Deb Goldfarb, this is a high-impact individual contributor role with strong ownership and influence across the business.

You’ll lead full-cycle recruitment across teams, from sourcing and screening to interview coordination and stakeholder partnership, while contributing to employer branding and creative talent initiatives. This role blends strategic recruiting with hands-on execution and a people-first mindset.

We’re looking for someone highly organized, collaborative, and energized by building great hiring experiences in a scaling, fast-paced environment. You’re motivated by seeing the direct impact of your work and excited to grow your career in Talent Acquisition and People & Culture with the support of a hands-on, supportive team.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Talent Acquisition Manager, you’ll play a vital role in attracting top talent to join Blue J. As an Individual Contributor, you’ll own the entire recruitment process, partnering closely with stakeholders to ensure a seamless and effective hiring experience.

  • Conducting detailed intake meetings with hiring managers to understand their needs, define role requirements, and establish clear hiring timelines.
  • Leveraging multiple channels, including job boards, social media, networking, and referrals, to proactively find and engage high-quality candidates.
  • Proactively building and maintaining a strong talent pipeline by sourcing candidates through various channels and cultivating a network of top talent through meaningful relationships and ongoing engagement.
  • Overseeing the entire candidate lifecycle, from sourcing and screening to interview coordination and post-interview debriefs.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact, providing timely updates and ensuring a positive candidate experience throughout the process.
  • Collaborating with hiring managers to develop competitive offer packages and delivering offers to candidates in an engaging and professional manner.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline the recruitment process and enhance hiring outcomes.
  • Representing the company in a compelling way to attract talent and ensure alignment with our culture and values.
  • Proactively identifying and attending industry events, meetups, and conferences to build pipelines and strengthen our employer brand.
  • Staying on top of changes in the talent market, including (but not limited to) trends in compensation, advances in technology, and changes in regulation.
  • Maintaining a presence on social media representing our employer brand.

What You Offer Blue J

  • You’re a people-person who excels at building strong relationships with both candidates and stakeholders.
  • You take the time to understand their needs and leverage your data-driven insights and expertise to guide and influence the recruitment process.
  • You care about quality over quantity. You operate with a sense of urgency, but prefer to do a few things really well than dozens of things with split attention.
  • Your consistent communication ensures that candidates feel engaged and stakeholders are always informed and aligned.
  • You bring the same energy and enthusiasm we look for in our hires, showing up with passion, curiosity, and a genuine excitement for connecting great people with meaningful work.
  • You have 5+ years of full-cycle recruitment experience, ideally including time at an agency, and have successfully hired across a range of technical and non technical roles. Experience recruiting in SaaS is an asset but not required.
  • You bring a strong network of talent and know how to tap into it.
  • You stay informed on industry trends, technology and best practices in talent acquisition, continuously enhancing recruitment processes to improve the candidate experience and drive success.
  • You’re scrappy and solutions focused - if you haven’t done something before, you’re resourceful and do what it takes to figure it out.
  • As a member of our People and Culture team, you connect deeply with our core values and are excited about embodying and amplifying them every day.
  • You’re organized and detail-oriented.
  • You’re tech savvy and can quickly learn our HR tech stack.

What We Offer You

  • An incredibly exciting and rare opportunity to be an early employee building out the people function at a rapidly growing company. We’re building a revolutionary tool from the ground up, and you will have a meaningful role in shaping the team that builds it.
  • We are flexible! A lot of the time, you’ll be able to work remotely. We have an office in downtown Toronto that you’ll have to go into periodically to support our team, but there’s plenty of opportunity to work from home as well.
  • We’re well-funded and offer competitive base salaries and stock options. You’ll play a crucial role in our growth, and it’s important to us that you share in our long-term success.
  • We care about you as a whole person. You’ll have a healthy work/life balance and colleagues who respect it. We’ve mindfully put together a great benefits package that covers you and your family.
  • We’ve got an amazing team. We’re mission-driven and motivated by success, but we’re friendly, we’re collaborative, and we care about each other. We’ve got all the start-up perks you’d expect, and are intentionally building a culture where you can pickleball if you want, feel safe to be yourself at work, and watch your career grow because your team has invested in you.

How We Use AI in Our Hiring Process

To ensure transparency, we want candidates to know that Blue J uses AI-enabled tools within our applicant tracking system to help organize applications and highlight profiles that match the key requirements for each role.

AI does not make hiring decisions.

Every application is reviewed by a member of our Talent team, and all decisions throughout the process are made by humans.

We use these tools to support efficiency and consistency, not to replace human judgment and we’re committed to a fair, thoughtful, and equitable experience for every candidate

Compensation

The base pay range for this role is CA$100,000 – CA$130,000 per year.

Final compensation will be set fairly and thoughtfully based on experience, expertise, and alignment with the role’s responsibilities. While all candidates are expected to bring directly relevant experience, the top of the range is typically reserved for individuals who demonstrate exceptional depth in the role’s core competencies, a strong track record of impact in similar environments, and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy from day one.
