You will accurately and efficiently complete the following functions of the job.

Brake Press Operation

  • Read specifications or follow verbal instructions
  • Lay out, set up, and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines such as shears, power presses, saws, plate rolls, drills, brakes, slitters, punch presses, computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment, and other hand tools to cut, bend, roll, ream, punch and drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products.
  • Use various measuring tools to check the product for the correct shape, dimensions, and other specifications.
  • Accurately and promptly report all manufactured quantities for acceptable and scrap parts for each work order in the ERP system. Reporting errors must be communicated to your supervisor.

Machinery Set Up and Trouble Shooting

Ensure brake presses, turret punches, and lasers are set up appropriately for long and short-run orders.

  • Load lasers with appropriate steel sheets for orders.
  • Troubleshoot production machinery to keep the shift running by performing minor corrections or repairs.
  • Start up and set up additional machines if basic troubleshooting procedures fail.
  • Contact appropriate management personnel for machinery emergencies that would otherwise result in shift cancellation.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read alpha and numeric work orders and part numbers
  • Ability to use measuring equipment such as verniers and angle protractors
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communicate with all levels of the Company using excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Work independently without excessive supervision and review work for accuracy within specified time constraints.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of high school and/or equivalent experience
  • Post-secondary education in a CNC Set-Up or Maintenance or equivalent mechanical knowledge
  • Valid Forklift Certification
  • One to three years of experience in a Brake Press role
  • One or more years of experience operating a Turret Punch and Laser

Expected hours: 40 per week

  • 10-hour shift
  • Monday to Thursday
  • Overtime

Supplemental pay types:

  • Bonus pay

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Cambridge, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Work Location: In person

The pay includes a $1.00 shift premium.
