About the role

Main Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Chief Physicist, the Medical Physics Assistant is responsible to ensure that radiation doses are delivered in an accurate, effective, and safe manner.
  • The role can include treatment unit quality assurance, treatment dose verification, external beam treatment planning, assisting in the commissioning of treatment units, dosimetry measurements, radiation safety responsibilities, and preparation of patient treatment accessories, under the supervision of a certified Medical Physicist.
  • Potential participation in research projects as the centre is a growing academic program.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering
  • Thorough knowledge of physics and mathematics at the undergraduate level
  • Working knowledge of the external beam treatment process with knowledge of the brachytherapy treatment planning process
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organization and problem‑solving skills
  • Aptitude for working with computers
  • Understanding of radiation physics, dosimetry principles, and protocols
  • Understanding of the imaging process, and an ability to interpret images relevant to treatment planning
  • Working knowledge of radiation safety
  • Aptitude for solving problems involving physics and mathematics
  • Ability to perform effectively as a multidisciplinary health care team member

Preferred Qualifications

  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Additional Details

  • Permanent full‑time position; 75 hours biweekly
  • Starting November 2025
  • Compensation: $32.55 - $38.94 Hourly
  • Benefits: health, dental, travel, long‑term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan
