**Job Summary:**This position provides both technical and functional expertise to support the Banner ERP system and related subsystems used across Ontario Tech University’s enterprise services, including areas such as the Registrar’s Office, School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, Student Life, Human Resources, Finance, and Faculties. The role will be crucial in the Banner ERP transformation project, supporting the transition from an on-premise system to a cloud-based solution. Responsibilities include assessing existing customizations to ensure they align with business needs and developing new integrations to connect various modules or external systems as required. The role requires collaboration with project stakeholders to assess, plan, and execute the scope of work. Additionally, this position will play a key role in testing processes to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability.

Responsibilities/accountabilities:

  • Analyzing requirements and specifications, in the context of existing systems/system modules, and business procedures to identify the impact and advice
  • Translates business requirements into functional and non-functional system application requirements
  • Develop and implement plans and activities associated with business process redesign including the creation of business requirements, business process mapping documents involving both internal and external stakeholders
  • Identifies the interactions needed between systems and application components. Creates a detailed design document for the database (tables, primary keys and data relationships)
  • Prepares application and system solution design, technical specifications for the application custom development and application function configuration and setup
  • Designs and implements test plans; compile test results and communicate with other Systems Analysts and Manager, Student Systems to identify necessary fixes/and or changes
  • Identify the sequence of application development work based on module dependencies. Collaborate with technical staff in the technical aspects of the development work
  • Reviews, analyzes and evaluates Banner student system upgrades
  • Creating queries and SQL Reports to extract data from SIS for verifying test cases
  • Provide production support for issues encountered by any business area that uses the Banner ERP System

Required Skills:

  • Proven ability to provide direction and technical advice to business users and peers
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of the software development life cycle and how it is applied in a multi-tiered environment
  • Strong attention to detail along with solid technical writing, analytical, research, problem solving estimating and decision making skills
  • Practical work experience in the analysis of business applications, including the use of strong technical skills in order to effectively review, analyze and architect modifications to systems
  • Work in a self-directed and self-motivated manner while paying keen attention to detail
  • Work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
  • Strong working knowledge of relational database technologies and technical tools such as SQL
  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a constantly changing environment
  • Analyze and solve complex problems
  • Learn and apply new technologies

Required Education:

  • Completion of a 4 year university degree in the field of Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science or a related field of study preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
  • Verification of Academic credentials may be required

Required Experience:

  • Over 1 and including 3 years of experience as a Systems Analyst with a proven track record as a contributor to the analysis, testing and documentation of complex major application systems projects in an ITS environment
  • In addition to detailed knowledge of ERP systems, such as Banner, a working knowledge of relational databases and web and client-server concepts is required
