The Director, Business Banking – Urban Markets is a key leadership role responsible for leading a team of Senior Relationship Managers who provide expert financial advice to large and complex operating businesses in urban centers. This role ensures the delivery of comprehensive financial solutions, including lending, deposits, and advisory services, with a strong focus on earning full Owner relationships across both business and personal banking.
This leader is responsible for driving portfolio growth, ensuring a high standard of Member experience, and executing strategic business development efforts in target industries. The Senior Manager serves as a thought leader within Libro, influencing business banking strategy and fostering a strong presence in key urban markets, including London, Waterloo Region, and Windsor.
The Role:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Senior Relationship Managers to deliver expert business banking services.
- Set clear performance expectations, ensuring high levels of business development activity, portfolio management, and Member experience.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture with a focus on continuous learning and professional development.
- Provide strategic direction to the team, ensuring alignment with Libro’s business banking goals.
- Develop and execute strategies to attract and grow business lending and deposit relationships in urban markets.
- Identify and prioritize target industries where business development efforts should be focused.
- Build relationships with key centers of influence, including accountants, lawyers, and business associations, to drive high-quality referrals.
- Support Senior Relationship Managers in securing and expanding high-value business relationships.
- Ensure the team maintains high-quality credit underwriting and risk management practices.
- Provide oversight and support in structuring complex lending solutions for businesses.
- Monitor portfolio health and drive proactive portfolio management strategies to mitigate risk and optimize growth.
- Act as a thought leader and advocate for Libro in urban business communities.
- Represent Libro at industry events, conferences, and community engagements to strengthen brand presence and support business development.
- Provide insights on industry trends, economic conditions, and market opportunities to support strategic decision-making
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in business banking, commercial lending, or financial services.
- Proven leadership experience in managing high-performing sales teams.
- Strong knowledge of financial products, credit underwriting, and risk management.
- Extensive experience in business development, with a focus on large and complex businesses in urban markets.
- Deep industry connections within one of London, Waterloo Region, or Windsor.
- Professional designation such as CPA, CFA, or PFP.
- Deep industry connections within London, Waterloo Region, or Windsor.
- Experience managing business banking portfolios in targeted industries.
