The Opportunity

Workforce Planning and Development Branch is seeking an initiative‑taking, detail‑oriented, and collaborative Workforce Planning Coordinator to join our team on a termunder 9 months, with an anticipated start date ofMay 2026and an expected end date ofJanuary 2027.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of staffing and talent attraction related activities by:

  • Being responsible for all staffing related administrative processes includes creating, proofreading, posting, and managing competitions in the HR Database, conducting preliminary screening, coordinating interviews, conducting reference checks, and administering all pre-employment assessments;
  • Being the first point of contact for all candidates, maintaining regular communication with a high volume of individuals and ensuring compliance with hiring processes and procedures, responding to candidate questions and concerns in a timely manner and managing a busy email inbox;
  • Developing, customizing, and tailoring staffing tools and processes to streamline and enhance the hiring process;
  • Working collaboratively with key stakeholders, to ensure maximum exposure of the current and future employment opportunities to our target audience. Liaise with external organizations for posting/advertising opportunities; and
  • Coordinating recruitment engagement events, including career fairs, information sessions and post-secondary classroom presentations.

Ideal Candidate

Our candidate of choice will:

  • Excel at managing large-scale recruitment initiatives, handling multiple competitions simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and compliance with established processes;
  • Be highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage tight timelines and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment;
  • Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills, maintaining professional and timely interactions with candidates, stakeholders, and team members;
  • Possess strong analytical skills and sound judgment to make effective decisions throughout the recruitment process;
  • Have knowledge of human resource policies, procedures, and systems, including competency-based staffing and HR-related databases (e.g., Taleo);
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a provincial team to achieve common goals and foster a positive work environment;
  • Show initiative in undertaking tasks independently while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions; and
  • Exhibit diligence and adaptability as key strengths to thrive in a dynamic, high-volume recruitment setting.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through:

  • A two-year Business Administration diploma, combined with work experience in a similar role;
  • Knowledge of Human Resource policy, procedures, and systems such as competency-based staffing, and HR databases;
  • An advanced ability using a variety of computer software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Bookings, SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat); and
  • Knowledge of office management and government administrative protocols.
