Development Field Trainer Alamos Gold is a Canadian-based gold producer with a long-term track record of creating value for all stakeholders through solid financial performance, low-cost production growth, and a company-wide commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship. We currently operate three mines – two in Canada and one in Mexico – and we have a strong portfolio of development stage projects, including the Lynn Lake Project and Island Gold Phase 3+ Expansion in Canada, and Puerto Del Aire Project in Mexico. Alamos also has an early-stage exploration project in Canada, the Qiqavik Gold Project. Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Reporting to the Captain, Production and Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and administering training programs for the development crews, ensuring site safety, loss control and environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and draft operational standards working with the Superintendent;
- Assist in development miner performance assessment;
- Communicate with Supervisors and Managers to determine training needs, development and application of operation standards;
- Train, coach, and mentor development miners following company standards in line with performance expectations;
- Design and develop training tools;
- Identify and develop updated policies and procedures;
- QA/QC in development activities in adherence to standards and work quality;
- Promotion of company safety programs;
- Assess safety risks and implement training plan to eliminate;
- Time studies;
- Participate in cost control projects;
- Report any deficiencies to the supervisor;
- All other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications And Experience
- 6-8 years of UG experience in development;
- 3 years’ experience on a Maclean Bolter;
- 3 years’ experience on a Jumbo (Epiroc units would be an asset);
- Familiarity with all aspect of the Underground Development cycle
- “Train the Trainer”, considered an asset;
- Strong safety focus;
- Strong computer literacy in Word, Excel, and similar systems (UKG or other time and attendance);
- Ability to work as a team;
- Self-motivated;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives.
Schedule: 4/3 rotating schedule
