Job Description
The Specialist, Human Resources is responsible for the coordination of workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee relations, labour relations and talent management across Magna Mining’s operations.
All Magna Mining team members are expected to work collaboratively with others, lead the way in health and safety, act with honesty, integrity, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment for site roles, including postings, interviews, pre-employment checks, and onboarding.
- Facilitate new employee orientation and integration into the company culture.
- Provide front-line support to managers and employees on labour relations matters, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and employment standards.
- Coordinate and lead grievances, workplace investigations, disciplinary processes, and union interactions.
- Participate in labour-management meetings and support contract negotiations as needed.
- Coach supervisors on effective communication, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
- Contribute to the development and execution of workforce planning strategies for site growth and operational stability.
- Assist in talent reviews, succession planning, and high-potential employee development tracking.
- Support the implementation of performance management programs, including goal setting, feedback cycles, and career development plans.
- Maintain accurate records in HRIS and ensure data integrity across employee files.
- Support compliance with employment legislation, company policies, and internal audits.
- Prepare HR metrics and reporting to inform business decisions and identify trends.
- Support the rollout of employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs.
- Help build a respectful, inclusive, and psychologically safe work culture across site teams.
- Participate in community engagement and cultural awareness initiatives tied to workforce and social performance objectives.
Requirements
Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents
- Post-secondary education in human resources or other related field.
Work Experience: Nature & Length
- 6 months or more of experience in human resources.
Key Competencies: Behaviours & Skills
- Knowledge of labour relations, collective agreements and employment law.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence without authority.
- Excellent documentation abilities.
- Experience in talent development, workforce planning and performance management.
- Ability to work independently in high-pressure environments.
